Song Of The South 35mm scan and restoration [DONATIONS NEEDED]

Hello fellow humans,

I am looking to aquire a german 35mm print of “Song of the South” for scanning and very possibly restoration. The print itself is pretty faded, but otherwise in good condition. It will be scanned in High resolution (6.5k) and then color corrected and restored. The Auction ends in a few days, so I am hoping to hear from you all soon. Dont be afraid to ask questions via DM.

I estimate a total cost of 400€
200€ for the print and another 200€ for the scanning process.

The restored version will be donor exclusive at first and may be made “public” at a later date.
I am confident that this scan will be a major improvement over the previous scan.

SOTS

Every penny is appreciated. Donations accepted via PayPal, Details via DM.

Kind Regards
Mark

Why not just re-scan the print that we already know is good? Yes it will be more expensive, yes the dye-layers are misaligned and it will need to be done R/G/B to do it right but literally EVERY Technicolor SOTS print is like that and it will scan far, far better than a faded Eastman print.

There hasnt been solid news on V3 anyway. This would be Most certainly an improvement since the scan used for v3 is not ideal to begin with

I haven’t worked on the V3 for a long while due to a lack of a 4k scan, might actually come back to work on this.

I believe so. Scanning would be about $950 I think plus postage.

Thats quite a lot. Plus you say you “believe so”. I honestly think this is the better option since the color isnt that bad and no dye misaligment i believe with it being eastman. Id rather have a little worse color and no dye missalignment. and not pay 500 more.

So is it still worth donating to this or is the project dead?
I released V1 of my own Song of the South 35mm project a few days ago, but would very much like to see how it compares to yours.
