Brilliant! I also think this is the way forward.
Update
Now, this edit is crafting into the category of extensive, so I can only do an estimate of August release at the earliest.
Things I have left to do, besides more audio work (sfx, ambiences and replacement work), are Visual Effects including, but not limited to;
- Voldemort’s eyes being red
- The Death Eater’s arriving by smoke during the Attack Of The Quidditch World Cup (for continuity with OotP and on)
- Two establishing shots are yet to be completed (one before Dark Arts class with Moody and one before The Third Task)
- One establishing shot need improved nighttime grading
- The Second Task is being redone with new underwater shots and overall pace and tone improvements, as the suspense is too shortlived before Harry discover the final part of the challenge in which he has to save Ron and Hermione. Fleur’s part is also re-arranged so that she gets attacked and captured BEFORE Harry enters the crowded underwater area, as to increase the suspense. The audience knowing the area is dangerous before Harry enters it will increase suspense and paranoia (suggestion by Chloe). This part also need a lot more audio work before I’m satisfied.
- The original, GoF Burrows matte painting is also being redone because a) it’s obviously a matte painting, B) it looks lifeless. I’m adding fog, birds, trees and moving clouds to the shot. Not done.
- The Third Task is slightly re-arranged and redone to make it more of a horror movie segment. I want each task to raise the stakes, and when Voldemort show up it goes from light horror to total nightmare. More audio work to be done, and two new shots need more VFX work.
- The Mad Eye Moody Reveal is rearranged to reveal the actions he performed under Harry and the audience’s noses, with him orchestrating the entire ordeal. This means a new segment in which everything is revealed and we see what Moody and his eye was up to, stalking Harry all over the school year.
- Dumbledore and Harry’s conversation about his nightmare is rearranged as a reveal to the audience, and also in need of more work.
And then it’s the general finetuning of all the things either mentioned or not mentioned in this thread, that need to be good to perfect before I render a beta version for Chloe to criticize.
Lumos!
