Will this website die when/if the O-OT is released?

I was just thinking, we are HUGE lobbyists for the O-OT. It's pretty much the main focus of this website, to get our hands on the O-OT. But what happens when we finally do? We'll have nothing to bitch about but the PT...

I dunno, just a random thought.

On a side note, I'd just like to tell you all that over the past however-many months, this has become my favourite place to hang out. This is my favourite Star Wars site bar none, and I've easily found it the most welcoming as well. Sure, some of you have strong opinions, but at least most of you know what you're talking about. If I have a question about Star Wars, I'd come to this site, because people on here have an actual understanding of the films. Not to mention the fact that instead of just bitching and moaning, we have a community of people on here who are helping each other to restore the O-OT in various ways, as well as with other films. So, good on you all, keep it up, and have a nice day.

I doubt we'll ever see the o-ot out officially, so it doesn't matter. But I doubt it will die, because between chatting about Star Wars and other things, other movie releases, and the various edits that have been done for Star Wars and others, there should be plenty for us to do.

Yeah, preservation of all documentaries, special TV shows, or fan edits, will always have interest, even if the O-OT is ever released... which I really doubt...
From Lucas point of view, the enhanced versions (actual DVDs) are not just "special editions", but the final versions (or let's say that each new version is nearer of the absolute-ultimate-lucas' version...). In that way, I really don't know why they would release the original versions on DVDs...

I dont think George will release it.

I dont think it will but hope not about this site because i would probably end up the TFN and a quick trip over there is bad enough and as said where else can we get all that superb preserved Star Wars stuff and fan-edits and the people who do it may scatter around the net if this site goes down, and the people here are very friendly and dont think the Prequels and the Special Editons are the greatest thing ever, and beyond any form of critism and opinion unlike on certian sites,

Though I do love this site, cause this is the only SW site where you can express your opinion and not get hounded if you disagree. But I have to say if Lucas releases the O-OT on DVD, that will probably be it for me even caring about the future of SW anymore. In a sense the only reason I try to keep up with the saga anymore is the hopes of one day logging on here, and there is an official announcement for the originals unchanged.

As I said in another topic, I wish Lucas would just release it so we can move on from SW, and let the fans who love the PT have their time in the sun, and wait and see if that trilogy stands the test of time. My opinions is ROTS will sort of past the test of time because it ties so closely to Episode IV, but the TPM & AOTC will be laughed at 10 years from now. Just my opinion.

Remember, folks, that this site is moving toward the day when it will have a broader scope than it currently does, becoming a general sci-fi/fantasy community instead of one with a laser-focus on Star Wars. That will help ensure its continued relevance.

With the great improvements that some of the fan edits have made to Eps. 1 & 2, I'm already laughing at 'em.

"cause this is the only SW site where you can express your opinion and not get hounded if you disagree."

With one or two notable exceptions, but otherwise true.

"becoming a general sci-fi/fantasy community instead of one with a laser-focus on Star Wars."

Excellent point.

Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.
