IMPS The Relentless (Troops 2): A Dead Project?...or what?

Author

I was just wondering... The first chapter of IMPS (Troops 2) has been available in may, and it was said at this time that each month, a new chapter would be released. Now, there isn't any new chapter since 6 months, and not any news since 4 months. What is going on?

Anyone has infos about it?

have you tried contacting the creator on his official site for imps?

I sure as hell hope, return of pink 5 is coming out soon, and other related fan films.

I sorta hope Troops 2 doesn't continue, as from what I can tell, Kevin Rubio has nothing to do with it, and I think that's a HUGE problem. His writing made that first fan-film what it was, so much so he ended up writing comics for Dark Horse afterwards. Good stuff.

I have little faith the guys making the "sequel" are hooking it up properly.

The talented people who make these things do have lives and probably jobs they need to attend to. (And there always is that pesky money thing.) You should see how antsy Trek fans get waiting for the next installment of "Starship Exeter" to come out.

07.21.2005:

Due to the overwhelming responses and requests, here is a status update regarding our progress on Chapter 2 of I.M.P.S. The Relentless.

We are all still alive and haven’t been slashed from the face of the Earth. The last month and a half we’ve been wrapping up prior obligations separate from the IMPS project. Although the project was on hold briefly, Chapter 2 is now running smoothly. Now that other obligations (i.e. Comicon ) are fulfilled we are back on board full time (full time meaning: in-between our day jobs!)

We plan to wrap up and release Chapter 2 in 6-8 weeks. At this time, this is the closest estimate we can give you. Please keep in mind this project is a feature length film, hence one of the reasons it takes time to complete and release each chapter.

We thank you for your patience. We are working hard to bring you an enjoyable film of exceptional visual quality. It may appear quiet and that nothing much is happening- but rest assured an imperial storm is coming!

It is the first thing you see when you visit impstherelentless.com. I understand that we've now gone past the 6-8 week mark from the time this was posted in the News & Information section, but as they've already stated it was the closest estimate that they could give us at the time.

I'm with SilverWook on this one, Starship Exeter...

So, anyone has some news about this series? Anyone knows a member of the crew?
I'm really wondering what's going on with this project. The first chapter was so cool! I really hope it's not dead...

I agree with the sentiment there. Though I really liked IMPS. Sure, the Stormtrooper part wasn't the best, but the leadup was nothing short of extraordinary. It made up for the disappointment that was the overhyped Revelations.

Can someone give me the lowdown on this "Starship Exeter"? I'm not really involved in the Trek community.

The best fan film will always be, IMHO, Broken Allegiance.

Although IMPS chapter 2 looks kind a dead at the moment, i had the same feeling about Tydirium-the true story for over 8 months, then all of a sudden its rumored it will be completed in March. IMPS chapter1 took a lot of flac for the Boba/Predeator thing and not enough praise for the rest of it. Perhaps the authors are thinking whats the point.....

Just to let you know that there's (finally!) a news on the IMPS website.
Nothing really new (they're still working on the 2nd chap), but it's good to see that the project is not dead.

I love the look and production value of the starship exeter episodes. That show rock! I wonder how much their budget is on that show though. If I get out to Austin soon, I'd love to go help those guys out. I think it'd be a great place to start!

The first IMPS didn't impress me enough for me to even worry about a 2nd one. Sure, Optimus Prime was cool - for the first minute. But that intro went on for TOO long... and don't tell me it's because it's the first episode and they 'have' to set things up. You don't 'have' to do anything! It's a clean slate, they can do whatever they want... they just did something silly.

Well, in fact, it's just the truth, it's an intro (at least the first part of the first chapter)...
In fact, I really love this "Empire commercial style" intro. And don't misunderstood what has been done in IMPS, it's deliberatly not a "Star Wars movie style" fan film. It ressembles more to a TV show (like "COPS", which has already been used for TROOPS). All the rythme, the directing, are made in that way.
Without being a real parody, it's not either a really serious fan film... at least, I see it that way... and like it...

It *did* have a sense of humour going for it, but it's just not my cup of tea. I guess the TV genre doesn't sit with me that well.
