Election Day. — Page 3

Oh, I thought I had written that there was a 5-year term limit (only once extended, in 1916), but I guess in my edits, I took it out. Thanks for mentioning that, Gundark. But, Gundark, recall that our previous election had been in Nov 2000, and then, just over three years later, in April 2004, Martin called for another. The five-year limit wasn't even close, but Martin felt that he should be elected, rather than just succeeding Chretien, and also thought there should be an election after the Auditor General's report.

And the latest we would possibly have an election is in the spring, as Martin has promised to call an election within 30 days of Gomery's final report, to be released in February.

For a really quick overview, the Wikipedia page on Politics in Canada is very concise. I recommend.
Chaltab if you want to say that the conservatives aren't trying to control what people think, that is one thing. But saying that the liberals are trying control what people think, is B.S. They are ones always defending the 1st amendment. The liberals merely wants to keep the government from controlling what people think. And there is a big difference between calling some one an idiot or a bigot and controling what some one thinks. One could argue that the conservatives call anyone who doesn't think their way an evil godless sinner.
Hey, I'm all for the first Amendment, but I'm also for it being used responsibly. Liberals can say whatever they want, but the minute they fail a student for not buying into politically correct B.S. or start restricting the rights of people to pray or wave a flag whereever they want to, then THEY are the one's in violation of the first ammendment.

Also: Have I, Starkiller, or JediSage called anyone an evil godless sinner? The people who peddle self-righteous bigotry in the guise of faith or conservatism are not really conservative at all, but extremist. I think that conservatives are tired of being treated like Fred Phelps' homeboys.

when have liberal restricted your right to prayer? What they restrict is government led prayer, or an offically saction time of prayer in school. You can still pray silently to wantever god you believe in. And when have they ever restricted some one from waving a flag? True they have restricted goverment's use of offensive flags, but individuals and wave what ever flag they want.

did I or the liberals on this site ever call You, Starkiller, JediSage idiots or bigots?

You, Starkiller, JediSage, are very open minded compared to other conservatives.

You haven't, and no, nobody has ever stopped me personally from praying. But it does happen, maybe not around here, where I live, but in other areas of the world.

You have to understand, when I talk about liberals, I don't mean your average guy from an internet forum; I specifically mean those cultural elitists who think they're better than everyone else because they tolerate anything and everything (except conservatives) and do everything they can to move the nation away from what it once was, towards a more government-ran state. Like Ted Kennedy or the editors of the New York Times.

And when I talk about conservatives, I am not necessarily referring to you.

then disassociate yourselves from the likes of Pat Robertson, Pat Buchanon, and other extreme conservatives.

Wow ! When I think there are SEVEN YEARS of Warb's opinions and arguing about politics archived in that part of the site.

He has written several books on the subject here already and maybe he doesn't even know... :|

He could have spent the same amount of time in Tibet. Ψ
