I’m tempted to ask for a link, but I kinda want to wait for your redux versions of Episodes 2 & 3 before getting into 4. Though, maybe I can just get the link now & not worry about downloading three big files later.

I’ve sent you the link. It may be a month or so before I finish the EP 2 and 3 changes.

Hi man, thanks for the link. This cut was more enjoyable than the actual season for sure. A few things i’d like to insert as feedback would be that it’s sad that you cut the Zeb scene in the New Republic pilot bar. It was one of the few enjoyable moments in the show on it’s own.

Cutting all the Pershingstuff was fine. I hated that sidetrack. Also Favreau says 2 years passed so how would the fact that Gideon escaped be unknown for that long. I agree that you cut that line from the pilot saying “i knew he din’t make it to trial.”

Then also i think it’s a bit strange to have the Shadowcouncil so early in the movie because there is no indication yet that mandalorians will take back their planet. Later you have the scene of the spy telling gideon about mandalorians and Gideon is all surprised about it. It doesn’t seem right to me.

Lastly i would say it would be better to cut Bo Katan saving Din’s behind the first time. Can’t cut the second time because that’s when she sees the Mythosaur offcourse and when he is redeemed to come back to the covert. And also when she is fighting the other blue mandalorian dude for taking control of her Deathwatch AGAIN, that could be cut alltogether. I don’t like Bo Katan femi-force pushing the Mando out of his own show all the time like that.

Other than that it’s much more watchable than having to go through the entire season again haha.

I’m glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the feedback.

The New Republic Bar scene is in the edit at 1h 1min.

I agree with your point about the Shadow Council scene being slightly at odds with the parallel Mandalorian plot. However, in a movie you don’t wait until the final act to introduce your protagonist, so I felt that the Gideon plot needed to be moved forwards. It also provides spacer scenes for Din’s plot and without them the edit would be Din moving from planet to planet via a series of wipes. As I’ve edited it, the discovery of Gideon’s Republic transport is moved into the first act, so moving the Shadow council forwards provides a link to that scene. His request for more interceptors and bombers then pays off with the destruction of Bo’s Castle. The way the TV series is ordered its unclear to the audience where those TIEs have come from, by moving the Shadow council scene before the castle destruction, its clear that Gideon is behind it.
I guess Gideon’s reference to Mandalorians in that scene can be put down to him either lying to get additional resources, or him knowing that at some point the Mandalorians will mount an attack (which is how the series plays out).

As for Bo’s first rescue scene, that really can’t be cut because its the reason she ends up on Mandalore to show Din the living waters, and her defeating Axe Waves to take control of her clan is a crucial plot point. However its edited, Bo is the co-lead in season 3.

I can’t believe I forgot to review this one!

I don’t know if it’s your best work (I think the second season was much more confusing when it came to rearranging it), but it’s certainly the one that most convinces me of how necessary this project is.

Season 3 was a bit of a hit or miss, with some episodes that I didn’t enjoy at all for the first time with this series. I’ve never felt so much like a season needed to be re-edited in some way to work better, and I think you’ve hit the nail on the head with your work.

Without a doubt, this is the best way to see it and I think it is the one that most emphasizes the emotion of everything that happens and the weight of the final victory. In some way, that ending that I feel rushed for a television episode here feels organic and suits me much more as a movie, and I think that undoing the tension of certain things that remain in the air from one chapter to another works better in order to not make false expectations with what is going to happen.

As always, great job!

I just watched this finally. I thought Mandalorian Season 3 was really weak, way worse than S1 and S2, and nearly as bad as BoBF. But you’ve redeemed this season and now I think your four edits of the Mandoverse represent some of the best Star Wars content out there. Audio is perfect as usual. Your edits really are a work of art. I can’t wait for Ahsoka.

It was a seamless experience and coherent for someone who has not seen the Original.

One little idea: When Karga grants land to the Mandalorians and then they leave basically the next day, it feels a bit off as it is now. I guess there was a side quest or two in between in the original show. It is not that a sudden departure does not make sense here, but it felt weird. I think this scene could very much profit from having a reaction shot of Karga. Any shot that has him looking up with a worried, sad or contemplating face would work. Because this is a setback and therefore relevant story beat in his ongoing search for a guardian, which concludes in the season finale. It would give the audden departure an active purpose in a side plot instead of feeling off. If a fitting shot exists, I think that is well worth 2-4 seconds of runtime.

On another note:
Until the Filoniverse is completed, this will be the Finale to my personal Star Wars Watchlist. If you ignore everything after it, it makes for a nice implicit finale.
We see Luke building an Academy, with Ahsoka last seen there and no Thrawn subplot introduced, the implication is that they build the academy together, which beings Ahsokas and Lukes Story to a very nice end.
Bo Katan has redeemed herself and Mandalore is finally reunited.
With Grogu there is now once again a force-wielding Mandalorian, that can be a bridge to the newly founded Jedi Order.
The short appearance of zeb hints at the fact that the Rebels crew is still around and active. If you watch g00bs edit of Rebels, which has the Epilogue as a separate Episode, you can just remove that Epilogue from your watchlist, not opening up the search for Ezra plotline, which makes the little hint with Zeb here totally enough.
Tatooine, known for its dangers and corruption, is under better rule and Boba Fett has found peace and his place jn the world. (we have seen him struggling a lot in the animated stuff)
And finally we have the first connections between Mandalore and the New Republic forming. Only between two specific people so far, but it is very likely to grow.
Oh, and Moff Gideon as the head of the Shadow Collective was defeated.

The only real loose thread left (when watching Rebels without the Epilogue and your Edits of the Filoni shows) is the Shadow Collective. But its leader gone and all points above taken into consideration, I am quite fine to just assume the will be defeated.

Do not get me wrong, I am very much looking forward to your future Edits. I sincerely hope the Thrawn saga plays out in a way that fan Edits can remove all build up to the Sequel Trilogy, which is unsalvagable in my opinion. Ending in a place where the Ezra Plot gets full closure and Thrawn is the final enemy would be perfect.

Another great edit.

I think I’ve come to the conclusion that for the first two seasons, I like the TV show / episodic format the best. (Not that the movie cuts weren’t good!) For BOBF and S3, definitely these movie cuts are the go-to.

The only thing I missed seeing in EP IV were the Morlocks on Mandalore. I understand totally why they were cut, though. I think everything else synced and timed up about perfectly.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what you’ve done with Ahsoka when you finish that. If any show in SW history ever needed a good movie edit, it’s that one.

Great work!
