Sick of all the piling on and hate for Last Jedi. Does that make it a good movie in my opinion no. Its worse than the prequel hate at this point. I’m just as guilty for hating how Luke was written, but its a far better movie than Force Awakens, and Rise of Skywalker. Luke has story purpose and is a character no matter how he is written he isn’t the worthless maguffin Michael Arndt and JJ made him.

Making a sequel 35 years later to Return of the Jedi probably shouldn’t have been done. If it had to be made doing it as a one off is a terrible idea. Hiring a guy who hates sequels and the very idea of them, and only likes making original films not franchises also probably was a bad idea. The only place i’ll defend Rian is his film wasn’t by corporate committee, he didn’t make it to fan demand. He is an auteur like George Lucas. Unlike Abrams who tried to copy Lucas or Spielberg, and always had the fans in mind. Though never pleasing them, or earning their praise except when he remade A New Hope.

Fiction is not reality, and people need to learn to separate fictional characters from reality. For example, it hurts nobody if you ship Greedo with Jabba, and even though I don’t ship Jabba with anyone, it’s wrong to mock people for doing so.

Fantasia is better than any movie from the Disney Renaissance.

When I hear about the story of Lucifer’s rebellion against God and his fall to Hell, for some reason, I always imagine Lucifer with the appearance of young Hayden Christensen from Revenge of the Sith. In my opinion, from a purely aesthetic point of view, Hayden has all the cards on the table to interpret Lucifer in a hypothetical movie about the fall of Lucifer from Heaven. You can argue as much as you want about Hayden’s acting skills, but you can’t deny that watching a movie like that would be like watching Dark Anakin from Revenge of the Sith for two consecutive hours, and that would be epic

“I know that all of you like to dream about space and are a little bit of envious of us. But you know what? We’re also envious of you. We are exploring space, but it’s only the beginning. Planets and unknown worlds are awaiting you. You will continue to storm the Universe.”

The Exorcist III is the best entry in the series. Yes, better than The Exorcist. William Blatty was a masterful filmmaker, and Brad Dourif is simply the GOAT.

But hey, if you don’t trust me…

(Spoilers ahead, so don’t watch if you’d rather watch the movie in full first.)

I’ll take it even further and say that it’s the best Disney movie ever made.

I have altered Lucas’ visions. Pray I don’t alter them any further.

The Birds (1963) is a seriously overrated film. There are many other classic Hitchcock pictures from both before and after this film that are better than this film.

Speaking of Hitchcock, the only Mel Brooks movie that couldn’t be made today is High Anxiety, because Hitchcock isn’t as big a part of the cultural zeitgeist as he was in the ‘70s.

Glad I’m not the only one who felt this way. I can understand how the concept of a bunch of our feathered friends going rogue could be intense, but for me, the characters kept the movie from ever taking off. I don’t remember liking any of them except for maybe the old lady who lost her husband. And I’m about to commit blasphemy for saying this, but Tippi Hedren’s character was way too much of a goody-two-shoes character for me to care about her. In fact, when she got ambushed near the end of the movie, I was rooting for those birds to peck her to death.

So, no. I’ll just stick to rewatching Vertigo for the hundredth time, thank you very much.

Jurassic Park III is the second best film in the franchise, behind only the first one. This film is aware that it’s meant to not be taken as seriously, and is a fun ride from start to finish.

I’m pretty sure that after the Jurassic World trilogy, this opinion has been getting more popular. Which is nice, because it’s also my opinion!

The Lost World: Jurassic Park is my personal favourite and I still don’t understand to this very day why it has so many detractors.

I don’t consider III as one of the best movies in the franchise (I’ve only seen the first four, so that’s where my knowledge lies), but I still thought it was a lot of fun, and of the original three JP films, I thought it was the better sequel. III wasn’t boring to watch, it had a good sense of self-awareness, and it tried to capture the magic and wonder of the first movie, which was one of the biggest mistakes The Lost World made.

I was able to watch Jurassic Park III all the way through in one sitting. That’s more than anything I’ve ever been able to say for Lost World.

Seriously, I don’t get why everyone is so dismissive of The Lost World: Jurassic Park. It’s my personal favourite.

I could write a whole novel explaining everything that’s wrong with it, but that would turn this into the popular opinions thread.

Okay, then. Give me a few weeks to write it. It’s that long.

It’s my favourite too, but I hate the first Jurassic Park. The Lost World is pure action from start to finish, never trying to be smarter than it is. The first film is awfully written: the scientists have little to no purpose, no outcome to the end of the movie. They keep repeating that everything will go wrong for scientific reasons, but when it goes wrong it’s because of a petty treason for money by a disgruntled employee (the ridiculously (and insultingly) token geek). And don’t get me started on the female scientist: she’s here just to show her putting her arm fully inside a giant pile of shit (again she says that there’s something biologically wrong, and then it’s quickly forgotten).

The nuked refrigerator scene in Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull is the best scene in that entire movie. Despite being ridiculous, it’s the only scene with a distinct 1950s personality befitting the premise of the film. The majority of the rest of the movie is just a bland rehash of chase sequences from earlier films set in a non-descript boring jungle, and could easily be transplanted into the 1930s if you swapped out the Soviets for Nazis and the glass skull for whatever. Instead, the movie should have taken Indy to East Berlin, and eventually culminated in an action sequence at a secret Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

(Alternatively, Indy should probably not exist in the 1950s, because Cold War Indiana Jones starts to closely approximate James Bond if you stray too far from the ancient civilization archeology angle, yet the “adventurous archeologist” trope is anachronistic after British colonial rule in the Mid-East begins to collapse.)

Unironic love for the PT must be countered with unironic love for Battlefield Earth/Manos: The Hands of Fate/Plan 9 from Outer Space/Reefer Madness/Robot Monster/The Room/etc. It’s the only way to bring balance to the Farce.
