Discussing the details of the "Shrek" DVD, interesting to note:
- The MPEG encoder used is by Sony - not sure whether this is a hardware encoder or a software application (would it be the encoder included with Vegas?)
- They use 3 pass encoding, but often 5 or 6 are required until the quality is satisfactory.
- Scenarist is used for the authoring.
- Pitch correction for PAL releases is only applied at the director's request, because it can add digital stepping. (Related to this, see this discussion - apparently Spielberg requested pitch preservation for the PAL release of Jurassic Park.)
