I skipped through parts of this thread and read some messages where you fought with finding a proper video codec for the Mac. I guess uncompressed lossless is out of the question as it eats up too much hd space? I think the only lossless and properly compressed codec for the Mac is the commercial Sheervideo codec... But I found the DVCPRO50 codec to be quite usable. Only 3.3:1 compression ratio compared to 5:1 of DV and 8Bit 4:2:2 colour space. I had very good results with it so far.
