That's the kind of thing that donations to X0 would go to, but I have a feeling the price is going to skyrocket on that puppy. I'd hate to think what the "reserve" is.

<span class=“Italics”>MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
<span class=“Bold”>JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.</span></span>

<span class=“Italics”>MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
<span class=“Bold”>Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.</span></span>

<span class=“Italics”>JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.</span>

There's also a 16mm print of "The Making of Star Wars" up on there as well.

I wish I had that kind of money so I could get that print of jedi, it's already well over a thousand dollars and still has not met reserve.

The making of star wars so far is a little over a hundred dollars, so not too high.

Prints of the old versions of star wars, empire, or jedi are never in this amazing quality, they are usually green or pink tinged. This auction could potentially go for several thousands of dollars.

Nice quality for sure.

Anyone think that MVerta could make us an HD version from it. I will chip in some cash for sure!

How is the overall quality of 16mm? Just wondering.

from my understanding you can really nice HD captures from 16mm. 720p from 8mm in great shape, and 1080 from 16mm. I could be wrong!

if we only had more time we could throw up a donation page for this and perhaps buy it for originaltrilogy.com...

that would be awesome

I find it interesting that on a preservation board so many projects are devoted to 'cleaning up' the Star Wars Trilogy and getting the original cuts as close to today's AV standards as possible.

I would love to see a print like this turned into a straight DVD - no altering or processing. It would be so cool to see the film again as it was in 1983...

If someone actually had access to a telecline, it could easily be bought with joint funds and resold for pretty much the same price after it’s been scanned.

If I had access to a telecine machine I'd buy it right away. It's just an investment. At least SOMEONE here must be able to pull it off, COME ON!!!

That's no moon. It's a LaserDisc.

Maybe someone could contact the winner of the auction and explain our situation. Chances are if they're spending THAT MUCH on ROTJ, they have a sympathetic heart. It's worth a shot!

Were 16mm prints like this actually exhibited in any theaters or were they just used for festivals, army etc. ?

If anyone ever got a hold of a 16mm Star Wars (ANH), it would be a great and easy to capture source of the original mono.

I have a friend who used to be a projectionist at a college campus theater. They used 16mm all the time for feature films. It's a pity the last 16mm SW print I saw on Ebay had turned green.

most libraries in big cities cary 16mm. I remember up in anchorage they had ANH and ROTJ. maybe you should check those out. i know dirt and whatnot are on those, but they are definitely worth looking at.

At my old film school I was helping to "renovate" and came across an entire library of 16mm prints they wanted to dispose of.

I'm talking 'Gone With the Wind,' 'Citizen Kane,' 'It's A Wonderful Life,' etc...

When I pointed it out to one of the professors that the school wanted these turfed, he found a vault somewhere to preserve them. Stupid me, I should have nicked them.

My point is that these things are out there somewhere - there has to be a print of the original cut of Star Wars on 16mm or even 35mm in some storage room.

It's up to $1,500-- reserve met.
We don't have enough road to get up to 88.
