With a month before the con starts they have finally announced the Panel Schedule for 2023 Celebration, April 7-10:

https://www.starwars.com/news/swce-2023-panel-schedule
https://www.starwarscelebration.com/en-us/panels.html

Not a lot stands out in the Panle Schedule to me, other than:

“The Making of Andor Season One”, on Friday 3-4pm
“40 Years of Return of the Jedi”, on Saturday 2-3pm
“Behind the Magic: The Visual Effects of Andor”, on Sunday 12-1pm
“Star Wars: Visions Volume 2”, on Monday 1-2pm

There is also a screening of Return Of The Jedi. It will probably be the Maclunkey version, but will be good for fans to have the chance to see it on the big screen. The Cosplay presentations are usually good for some inventive, fun & ingenious outfits.

An “Ahsoka” panel and a “15 years of The Clone Wars” panel too, but nothing listed for the 20th anniversary of Clone Wars microseries that I can see. I thought there would be more “Return Of The Jedi at 40” panels too.

Guests: https://www.starwarscelebration.com/en-us/guests.html & https://twitter.com/SW_Celebration for more being added

Anything there interesting or worth a look at? I hope anyone who is going enjoys it and has a great time there. The Forbidden Planet store in London is meant be worth a visit as well. I really wish the official Star Wars YouTube channel live streams or shows more panels than they have done in previous years, even if they delay showing them for a week or two.

Those panels are a bit lacking. Though everyone seems to have a good time at Celebration from the photos and social media posts that get posted up, even if the panels are a bit meh. It is cool to see so many girls dressed up as Rey or their other heroes, I read somewhere at the last Celebration there were more fans dressed up as Rey than there were stromtroopers and Imperials.

The gust list for this is strong, but not surprising seeing the money being charged for simple signatures or extra “6 word inscription messages”. From https://twitter.com/jamieswb/status/1620483743730507778? :

“Notice how they didn’t include the scaling admin fees for each item and the optional £44.99, 6 word inscription in those costs”. From https://twitter.com/Supernovaa30/status/1620485215587287040 :

If you wanted a 6 word message it is an extra £45. So, £227 for a 6 word message and autograph.

£100 = 112 euros = $119 USA = $180 Aus !!! Wow!

I am very happy I do not collect autographs, but those prices suck for fans that do.

The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear.

They have added more panels now for Return Of The Jedi on the https://www.starwarscelebration.com/en-us/panels.html website.

There was only 1 panel on the website before. Now there are 5 panels:

40 Years of Return of the Jedi
The Science of Return of the Jedi
40 Years Later: Exploring the History Behind “Blue Harvest"
Start Your Engines (Lambda class shuttle)
Planet Leia

The same for Andor. Only 2 panels were on the website before. Now there are 4 panels:

The Making of Andor Season One
Behind the Magic: The Visual Effects of Andor
Andor, the Empire and a History of Resistance
The importance of Latinx representation in Star Wars

The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear.

That screening of Return Of The Jedi at Star Wars Celebration, the one that will probably be the Maclunkey version, is not free of charge. I just assumed this was free for Celebration ticket holders. Instead it is an extra $40/50 per ticket, plus $5-7 processing fees!:

“Join D23: The Official Disney Fan Club at Star Wars Celebration with an exclusive screening of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi! Enjoy complimentary popcorn, water, and a commemorative gift. It looks like again this year its just going to be filled with promotions for stuff they sell rather than the panels. Looking at what is set to stream its really screwing over the fans that not only can’t get to the event but also those that have paid to go but can’t get in to the panels. Not a single one of the Return of the Jedi panels is going to be streamed, including the hour long 40th anniversary panel. Yet they are going to stream the 15th anniversary Clone wars panel. Screw that. 15 years isn’t even a bloody special anniversary.

Yep, 100%. These “live streamed YouTube videos” only start after the main panel on the day finishes.

A pathetic and mean spirited way to treat the fans: the “Star Wars family”, for those that are there at Celebration but couldn’t get tickets for the Panels, and also those at home around the world who can’t be there.

A 15th anniversary of The Clone Wars? But no 20th anniversary of Genndy’s Clone Wars? No 40th panels live streamed for ROTJ? That sucks.

There are two Return Of The Jedi panels tomorrow - and both are on at the exact same time:

The Science of Return of the Jedi Sat Apr 8, 2023 • 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

40 Years of Return of the Jedi Sat, Apr 8, 2023 • 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

What were they thinking? Now that is some poor planning.

That is awful planning. Shades of “Hey fans of Return Of The Jedi who are here on this super expensive weekend, we’ve arranged the ROTJ Panels to be at the same time so you are going to miss out on the little we are showing about this classic film on its 40th anniversary. Could we have easily put these on at two different times? Yes, we could. But we’re not.”

Sadly not. Nothing like that 😦

The only Return Of The Jedi panel shown live was:

40 Years of Return of the Jedi panel: can be watched at 1:55:45 here - www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi-b2c0RY7I

I thought the above panel was disappointing. Ming-Na Wen was good as the host, but they had 3 people from Lucasfilm who hadn’t even worked on ROTJ talking about it, and I don’t understand why they didn’t have any of the talented film crew or ILM people from ROTJ on the panel.

Then Anthony Daniels, Warwick Davis, Ian McDiarmid and a tired, quiet or ill Billy Dee Williams came on stage for a bit too. Billy Dee just plugged his new book. Anthony Daniels and Warwick Davis tried to be funny and were not. Only Ian McDiarmid was interesting. I do hope you and others enjoy the panel far more than I did.

Unfortunately the 4 other Return Of The Jedi panels at Celebration 2023 were not shown live:

The Science of Return of the Jedi (they put this on the same day & time as the “40 Years of Return of the Jedi” panel!)
40 Years Later: Exploring the History Behind “Blue Harvest"
Start Your Engines: Lambda Shuttle
Planet Leia
