I know i won't be able to get the Official quality but i just wondered if they're glossy (is there different types of glossy? i'm a real newbie when it comes to printing!) and what weight (aprox.) they're using so i can get my TR47 covers to be as close as possible to standard covers.

You can get metallic inks and such on ALPS printers, which generally rule.

But what I meant by Super Jewel Boxes was the kind of box from this site. I needed some from them anyway for my Advent Children fan edit (since the official AC came in a case like that), and was wondering if anyone had tried to use them for a Star Wars design.

I suppose the paper close to what they use is lightweight semi-glossy or called lightweight satin finish. I'm afraid i don't know the exact gsm you'd want considering medium weight is about 45-50 gsm i guess form about 25 gsm upwards would be a similar weight to what the officials use. Don't know where you can buy it, had it at art college in the printing studio along with a vast collection of other type's. Might be worth asking someone in a printing shop if you're really that bothered about it.

If you want a cheap easy option that will give a good print and look professional try kodak everday picture paper or something similar. I personally use a brand Jet-tec supersharp matte paper for my cover's. Cheap high quality and does the job well, but that's my preference.

I have the right color temperatures on my monitor but what should I set my brightness level too?

Never mind, I think I fixed it.
Rock. Nirvana. Awsomeness.

And what I meant was that, yes, I have, but I put them on a CD and won't be able to access them until I get home.

Thanks. I'd be interested in seeing what you've done. I was actually responding to Hot Rod with that comment, although it really wasn't specific enough, heh.

Would anyone be able to tell me what program people are using to make these covers? I've been wanting to design some of my own, but haven't found a program suitable to do it with. I know someone mentioned it before, but I haven't been able to find it since I first saw it.

Any help would be appreciated. And of course, I'll be more than happy to share my designs once they're finished.

Everyone's gonna say "Photoshop," but I'm gonna say Illustrator or CorelDraw. A vector graphics/layout package is way better than just a photo editor for dealing with this sort of thing. Although, since the final result is usually low-res (300dpi) and compressed with the wrong tool (JPG; covers would be better as PNG), I guess Photoshop will do. Paintshop Pro's just about as good.

Yeah, Photoshop works fine. Besides, the program is only half the process. Most of us wouldn't have access to serious, professional grade printers. Even the best covers are only as good as the printer they are made with.

Photoshop 7/CS is by far the best for image editing, enhancement nothing comes close IMO.
For altering logo's, symbols black and white stuff etc. Illustrator
For designing layout's and general graphic design i reckon the best is Quark Express. I used to use corel draw and adobe pagemaker but i found quark more to my liking.
If you have a graphics tablet, i recommend getting corel painter for creating more artistic images. Interface is very similar to photoshop but it has 10 times the amount of brush effects. A very cool program if you use it the right way.

Hi there!
I guess that this question has been asked many times, but:
How do you create this sort of 3D presentation of your covers?:

Is it a software just made for that?

Thanks!

You didn't fix the spine, though. Look this crazyness:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v92/reverendbeastly/crazy1.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v92/reverendbeastly/crazy2.jpg

What you need to do is get rid of that and re-do the text as a seperate layer on top of flat black. If you can't see what's wrong in those caps, there is something seriously wrong with your monitor.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v92/reverendbeastly/crazy3.jpg
And this picture is obviously terribly stretched with some nutty black levels going on. It looks like you did a paint bucket thing with black, making dark areas disproportionately darker. And there's obvious use of some kind of a pencil or brush tool in the top right of the image.

That's what's still wrong with the cover.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

I'm wondering if anybody have a high res scan of the actual sith DVD cover.

Up here in Canada they totally ruined the cover by putting french on the cover and the spine looks like crap. I went to cdcovers.cc and they have a low res picture but if anybody could get me a good scan so I can print it out and replace my english/french cover.

Thanks hotrod but I can't get the UK to match up very well.

PM me please.

man that made me so angry. The stupid bilingual cover just totally ruins the flow of the saga on my dvd shelf. If they'd done it from the start no biggee, but it's the only one. Sticks out like a sore thumb.

I'll throw some links up later tonight so you can download them directly instead of me emailing them out individually. I hope this helps some of you out there!

Someone needs to come up with an edit worthy of this cover...

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b262/Coov/maul.jpg

Galatians 2: 20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Here's a great cover created by Ric Easton that is for the entire series plus the Bonus Discs (10 disc total). Ric does AWESOME customs! You can check out his work at: Click Here
On his site there is also a link on where you can buy the 10 disc cases.
