I hate the fact that the Eagles have crashed and burned.

I hate what is going on in France right now.

I hate T.O.

I hate the fact that Jay let certain member return.

I hate the fact that my high school football team whose record was was 0-7 played another team whose record was 0-7, and got killed by that team. Now their record is 0-8.

why? He was wonderful in Mash, and is doing a good job on the West Wing. Funny guy and good actor. What's to hate about him?

To each their own. I find him smug, irritating and egotistical in just about every performance he gives, and personally I think he ruined M*A*S*H when he assumed more creative control during the later seasons. It was always preachy, but thanks to Alda at the end it got WAY too preachy.

I hate T.O. as well.

I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Well, I have never found Alda anywhere near smug, irritating or egotistical. And you can say he ruined M*A*S*H but without Mash never would have been a great show to begin with.

I was referring to little funs things like our rankings, Mangler Inc. and Warbler Inc. Perhaps its time to end them, but I liked them and thought they were fun.

Alan Alda is in the West Wing? (sorry, I am a mere englishman and therefore subject to getting shows long after they air in the US). I like Alan Alda and I'm glad to hear he's in the West Wing. My Dad actually chose his career because of M*A*S*H!

War does not make one great.

I grew up on that show, but have in the years past revised my opinion of it. I think Futurama had a great take on it when they showed the characters watching an episode of "Mobile Robot Army Hospital". The "Hawkeye" character was sitting there up to his neck in blood, lamenting the horrors of war, then turns around and says something like "Hand me that whoopie cushion over there" and spanks a nurse on the back side. However, it's good to know it inspired someone to do something good with their lives...

I always liked M*A*S*H, and even the end, but I do agree that Alan Alda did get too much social commentary type stuff at the end. But not as bad as he could of been, and not to the point of ruining the series. Superman IV anyone?

I haven't seen that in years, but I remember it was a dud to be sure. When it first came out I was a lot younger, and I remember having a crush on Muriel Hemingway. Was like, Dude. What is Clark's problem?

You may be interested to learn that Richard Hornberger, who wrote the original book on which MASH (both the film and TV series) was based, under the name 'Richard Hooker', loathed Alan Alda's portrayal of Hawkeye Pierce.

As for Superman 4, well, the Superman movie franchise had pretty much fallen apart by that point, and given the film's obvious lack of a budget, the film most likely would have sucked regardless of the plot. Mariel Hemmingway was pretty hot though, I agree, but there's that whole Lois Lane thing, even when Lois is played by someone as off putting and unappealing as Margot Kidder.

I always considered Kidder to be an unattractive Karen Allen.

I think that Kidder was a bad choice to play Lois Lane. Karen Allen would of been better. But would she have been old enough in time for the first movie. Of course, Lois Lane seems to always be cast with odd people. See the original TV show, with Noel Neill? She made a great Lois Lane, but not exactly a knockout.
Yes, the Superman series had gone downhill pretty quickly at 3. But my point was one of the major problems (OK, there were plenty of them) was that Christopher Reeve had been given control over it, and he turned it into an anti-nuclear political statement instead of an action/adventure movie. In comparison, Alan Alda's changes in M*A*S*H wasn't anywere near as bad.

Thank God, I've finally found some folks who agree with me about Kidder. That's up to four now, counting my former English teacher, Dennis Kaplan. Lord knows better actresses auditioned for the part - I think they should have gone with Anne Archer. On the other hand, I could have seen Kathleen Turner or Sigourney Weaver doing Lois Lane. Age is a funny thing here - Reeve was only 24 (26 by the time of release) and Kidder was like 30 something.

I forget who said it, maybe it was on Family Guy, but someone said that the only reason Kidder got to play Lois Lane was because all of the male roles were taken, and I wholeheartedly agree.

BTW, isn't she living in an alley somewhere?

That is what I loved about the show. You'd have great moments of drama followed by great moments of comedy. I always thought he gave a great performance. True the show wasn't as good at the end, but for most of its run it was a great show

It is unfortunate that that Hornberger loathes the way Alda portrayed Hawkeye. Personally I can't see anyone else coming anywhere near close to Alda's performance. I would be interested to learn how Hornberger thinks Hawkeye should be portrayed. However may I remind you that if the creator was always right about his creation(s), OT.com would not be here right now.

I hate the fact that Jon Corzine (Dem) was won the Governor election in N.J.
