It always struck me as a bit odd how the window explodes and the shot just lingers on that while epic fast paced music plays with not much happening. The extended duel clips are way out of order in this edit and there’s some glaring continuity issues introduced as a result (no offense to Bobson), but if you slot them to go right after the window explosion and lead into the big panning shot, they’re a perfect fit. Hence, I’m pretty sure that’s actually where the shots were originally going to be, but at the last minute they decided that it would be better to reintroduce the duel with the panning shot and let the Padme stuff go a bit longer since there’s nothing else to fill that section of the music.

bobson dugnutt’s Phantom Menace - Expanded Edition HD Fight clips re-ordered/framed to their 2001 Deleted Scenes Documentary presentation + Schorman’s HDTV v2.5 + ifjg’s editing suggestion + audio from the 1999 Royal Premiere video + Ultimate Edition OST.

If the pan up shot that opens the sequence in the final film is replaced outright, it works pretty well. Panaka’s head turn to the cut, and the Jedi landing to Qui Gon swinging feel right.

I was talking more like cutting right when the window breaks. If you do that, you can still keep most of the panning shot. But your way of doing it does have its advantages. It’s cool how the chorus comes in for when they do the jump, and I like how it flows cutting straight from the landing to the Qui-Gon swing.
