I wonder if we could AI generate a Poe line to fill that gap where he talks about light speed skipping, that was pretty much the only noticable cut in V2.
Okay, so it looks like it would actually pretty easy to reinstate this cut. Instead of relying on Poe, it would instead be entirely depended on my Rey model. Which is good, because it tends to produce a lot of screamy results!
The following lines would need to be dubbed over:
“You lightspeed skipped?” --> “You lightspeed crashed?”
“You can’t lightspeed skip the Falcon!” --> “You can’t lightspeed crash the Falcon!”
We’d be inventing a new term, but that’s exactly what the film does already for skipping. With the way we currently have things, it’s quite clear Poe engages lightspeed and crashes through the ice wall. Rey can still get mad about this, and surely this would be considered a dangerous move (look at what happened to Holdo). However, if we aren’t happy with the term “crash” I’m sure we could try alternatives.
