Its been rumoured that in the theatrical run at the end of the credits, the box which the government works put the ark of the covenant in burns.

Does anyone have a copy of this scene?

I went to see the movie when I wa a boy at a thearte with my dad and I remember that scene clearly...

I saw 'Raiders' in 1981 five times. In 1984 I saw it re-released with 'Temple Of Doom.' In 1993 I saw all of them together at a marathon. In 1998 I saw 'Raiders' again at an arthouse. I've seen it projected in 35mm, 16mm, Beta, VHS, LD & DVD.

Not once was that scene in there. Sorry - I hate to tell you this but it doesn't exist any more than the Bigg's scene did in Star Wars...

So, what's the general opinion on Lucas now calling this film "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark?" (Yes, I know the actual title itself hasn't changed, merely the new name for it on the DVD box.)

they were calling it that long before when it was on t.v., probalbly to help people distinguish between Raiders of the lost ark, temple of doom, and last crusade.

I think they should have just called them that, with their specific titles, instead of putting the "Indiana Jones and the..." title on it.

I think they should have just left it Raiders of the Lost Ark. For the DVD spine, they could have just had the Indiana Jones logo with the title under it without the "and the."

The whole situation is that Lucas wanted to rename the 'Raiders' film to match the overall 'Adventures of Indiana Jones' boxset that would include the YIJC series. The films would be lumped in together with the TV series to make a complete history of Indy's adventures.

It's a shit idea, as far as I'm concerned. It's pointless because Indiana Jones was one of the raiders of the Lost Ark.

It's only the case art, if anyone is concerned. The film itself only says 'Raiders of the Lost Ark.' Thank God for small miracles.

Funny you should mention shelf position, ADM. I have Temple of Doom first in my DVD box, as it of course takes place before Raiders chronologically.

Heh ... me too. Just like Star Wars. Too funny!

Of course, that means I just skip the Indiana Jones prequel and go straight to the O-IJ. Sadly, I just don't watch Temple. I did when I got the box, just out of obligation to the purchase. But the movie is not the dark, ESB-like middle chapter as Lucas purports. It's more of the Beverly Hills Cop 3 of the trilogy.

Years ago I used to joke that they needed to make another Indiana Jones movie so they could finally have a trilogy.

Thank heavens half of Indy is Lucas's property. If it belonged exclusively to Spielberg, the DVD version would feature Jones fighting US government agents rather than German soldiers, with a huge walkie-talkie rather than a whip.

I dont undestand why in ET the government agents where holding shotguns, where they really going to shoot a kid in a bike with a shotgun? No, it didnt make sense so he changed it to walkie talkies.

That doesnt make any sense why would Indy fight the US instead of Germany?

PS: If Lucas didnt hold any part of Indy, we would have probebly seen Indy IV and more much much earlier its because of him it keeps getting delayed. He thinks he knows what a well scripted screenplay is, the man that wrote the prequels.

Indy IV hasn't happened yet for several reasons, the least of which is scheduling and the fact that Frank Darabont turned in a shit script. Yes, Lucas was busy. He was making THREE FUCKING MOVIES and so was Spielberg! I don't see anyone blaming him! But just because Lucas made a less than satisfactory (to some) addition to the beloved Holy-Fucking-Trinity of films, fanboys lash out at him.

I got news for you friendly! Lucas' bowel movements are 10 times as creative as you wankers will ever be!

Did I say I was better?

He has a wonderful imagination but he can execute it on paper. He had over 10 years to fine tune his prequel ideas you'd think that would give you a really great script. But he used language out of a high school drama.

He made an empire out of nothing, great business man but he isnt perfect no. He has millions of dollars you dont have to kiss his feet or his bowls.

And whats with the GL gushing?
