Harry Potter Extended Editions (Released) — Page 26

I had to artificially create a 5.1 environment in Final Cut Pro. I would start with the 2.0 audio and create a basic surround sound environment. I could adjust the levels coming from each speaker as well as adjust over time if needed. I was impressed with how the end result came out.

Hello dear JJpotter
i was so excided when i first heard that you’ve finally upgraded the video quality of harry potter edits, specially when you said something about using today’s technology in able to get better results, thinking that you are talking about hevc encoding using 10 bit at slow settings, but it was a bit disappointing for me that it was only 8 bit and not 10 bit,
i have “3xo” encodes which are about 7GB per movie and they still looks slightly better than your recent V2.1 encodes which are about 9 GB per movie, i know that encoding at 10 bit is more time consuming and more heavy on hardware but it is the best thar technology can offer today, it gives better results
please don’t be offended with my opinion, i thank you so much for your precious time and great efforts, and if you will ever do newer version in the near or far future, please keep the bitrate at 10.000 kbs on h265 10 bits and mkv not mp4, yes the file size would be +10GB per movie but it is so worth it, it is our favorite movie series after all, good luck.

Very much agree, quality comes first.

Hello, very interested in these, can I get the links?

I had old versions (1.5, I believe) and saw they were updated. First of all - Thank you to to @JJPotter for all his hard work.

I got the links from the e-mail for 2.1 and had a question.

Were the first two movies (Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets) not updated to 2.1? I only see 7 links and 3 of them are for Deathly Hallows (as well as 3 for Fantastic Beasts, meaning 10 links in total). If not, that’s completely fine, I just wanted to make sure I had the most up to date versions!

Thank you so much again JJPotter! And reading through a few posts here from yours, I hope we get a new NHL game on PC soon!

As I have mentioned multiple times, there are OFFICIAL extended versions of the first 2 movies. While I created my own versions of these, I cannot and will not release these since they are not significantly different than the official ones. For these, you will have to buy the official versions.

I sincerely apologize, fella. I read through a bunch of the thread, but got annoyed at some people saying they were disappointed with your work and decided just to ask.

I see where I made the error anyway. I ripped the first two films on BluRay from my set and mistakenly put them put them in the JJ Potter folder (which had your old versions). That’s totally on me for why I thought I was missing something.

Again I sincerely appreciate everything you’ve done for the community and your fans.

Hey!

Absolutely love the work that was done on those fanedits, I can’t go back to the originals after watching them. Sadly I lost my files in a hard drive corruption and I don’t have episode 6 with the original colors now. Anyone would be able to share the file by PM if they still have it?

Cheers!

The edits look really promising, I was searching for the extended versions for a long time.

Just out of curiosity, what if any are the differences in your versions of the first two movies compared to the officially released ones?

Hi, I watched some previews of these extended versions and I was very impressed! How can I watch these versions? Can I get the links somewhere?

I just want to say I love these, and always have since this project started. Thank you!

Thanks a lot for making this possible, I’m a big big fan of HP and always feel like the films were not at the same level as the books. Only I have one question, how can I download it?

Thanks again for your excellent work.

Oh wow!, when is this releasing and where? HBO Max or blu ray?

Not at all. Some of those scenes were alternate takes that weren’t consistent with the source. Some were just test images that were rejected by the director before the effects were even finished. Heck, some of the scenes I haven’t even heard they ever filmed.

I’m nearly a year late responding to this, but never in my time as a casual Harry Potter fan have I heard this claim regarding the unreleased footage. I’m not trying to argue with you, Doc, but I believe the scenes I mentioned last year exist somewhere in the WBD vaults. I could be wrong, but who knows? 😁

Movies aren’t made by the original author writing the script, handing it to the director who films it as written and the actors recite the dialog word for word.

There are always alternate takes, changes in dialog, ad libbing, multiple revisions to scripts, etc. Hours and hours are filmed for any movie, but all the footage isn’t intended to be used for one reason or another. As such, they don’t necessarily spend money on vfx for that footage.

Heck, it’s one of the reason some movies are on hold right now with the writers strike; changes in dialog while filming is considered writing in most cases.

I’m not saying the footage doesn’t exist (it probably does) or has been destroyed. I’m saying it doesn’t necessarily belong in the movies.

Sorry I misunderstood, then. I would still like to see the footage released someday; not necessarily put back into the main movie, but to see what we could’ve seen. Plus, it would make for great fan edit material! 😄

Oh, yeah. I love watching deleted scenes. I thought you wanted all of that put into the movies.
