Dont worry, it wont happen, but apparently they actually had a script/story outline for it.

can read about it, and other stuff here http://www.infocusmag.com/05november/ramisuncut.htm

also, theirs a comment (crack?) at Lucas' directorial method.

I heard years ago they planned on a movie about Ray and Egon training new recruits, including the late Chris Farley.
I'm actaully kinda sad they're not making it, but at the same time I'm glad.

I remember reading about this years ago. Chris Farley as a Ghostbuster would've been comedy gold.

The script idea that Ackroyd and Ramis came up with is actually pretty good. I would've liked to have seen Ghostbusters 3 happen.

Interesting. I wonder if this is what led to Ethan Suplee's role in Evolution, given that he's a dead ringer for Farley (and IMHO a much more talented actor).

Yup, he ( Harold Ramis, Dr. Egon Spengler) comments on the plot and some casting choices, including Chris Farley and Ben Stiller are mentioned and the plot was Ghostbusters Go to Hell. Like Jay said, it really did have a good plot. It figures that the one series that they could rekindle that has a good story to go with it would be the one that is never gonna happen yet Rocky 6 and Rambo 4 seem to be possibilities

oh well, I just thought the article was interesting and that people would enjoy it here, also it has that Lucas comment.

Hey, Mr Ramis, Mr Akroyd, if you're listening, how about it guys? Just don't go all hollywood on us and mess it up. And if Bill Murray doesn't want in, forget it. I'm sure Ernie Hudson will jump at the chance.

Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II still rank up there in my top favorite films. After reading the script idea, I think it would have made an awesome sequel. Unfortunately they may be too old to do it now. It's amazing just how perfect the Ghostbuster movies turned out and I think the 3rd one could have been just as good.

I'll agree on the original Ghostbusters. But the second one? Nah... The only good bit in that movie was from Cheech Marin regarding the Titanic... "better late than never."
"You fell victim to one of the classic blunders, the most famous of which is 'Never get involved in a land war in Asia'."

Ghostbusters was great. I've always heard that there was planned to be a third, but Bill Murray wouldn't do it. Anyone else watch the Saturday morning cartoon show? That was also pretty good. Someone ought to release that on DVD.

Meh, I still like the second one. It had a lot of enjoyable moments for me. I still loved how they controlled the Statue of Liberty with an NES controller.

My main problem with part two was the villain. The final battle in part one was pretty grand--a giant marshmallow man and a lightning-throwing goddess. In part two, we get an old balding guy coming out of a painting and wrapping people in plastic tubing.

The guy from Ally McBeal was funny though.

I loved both of them. My only problem with the second one was that it seemed to be a verbatim rehash of the first movie.

Down on their luck, big ghost incident happens, success, musical montage, living the high life, villian takes hold, Ghostbusters incarcerated, panic ensues, Ghostbusters released, saved the day, covered in a sticky substance, Peter and Dana make out.

But I still enjoy them, so it's more of an observation than a complaint.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

let Ghostbusters die. please. Part 2 should never have been made. Why can't people leave a good film alone?

Ghostbusters 3 will never happen because Harold Ramis almost never acts now, and Bill Murray has said several times he dosen't want to play that part anymore, and Dan Aykroid has said he will only do it if he can reunite the original cast. It almost did reach pre-production some years ago.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

The idea was genius, but it's way too late now. If they could've done it when Chris Farley was still alive, it would've worked, and much better than 2 did, although I picked up the new 2-pack and must say that Ghostbusters 2 doesn't seem quite as mediocre now as it did then. It's still not as good as the first one, but it's not an outright disaster like some other sequels *cough* Highlander *cough*.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.
