That's neat! Has a non-official cover on it, but hey. Spicoli's cover, right?

I'm really not sure whose cover it is. I submitted the profile quite a while ago, and I wasn't even aware that there was an official cover until recently. As I recall, I took the most visually appealing cover that I had on hand and submitted that one. At least the title on the cover is readibly legible (which can be a concern seeing how small DVDAF shrinks the images...)

It's only within this past week that I've gone about doign my own cover, and only within the past few weeks that Coov has done his two ...

So at the time you submitted, yeah, Spicoli's was the way to go. It's similar to Ruben Ortiz's, which was low res but which was the first good one and is still the standard in some ways.

Hey,

I just saw the entire Deleted Magic DVD last night with a good friend. Sorry it took so long for me to watch it, but I wanted to be in a very Star Wars kind of mood. It was Fantastic! I am a HUGE Jefferson Airplane / Starship fan, so the ending was a real trip!
I will be viewing this title over and over again!

That video just screams Star Wars, doesn't it?.

I was contacted today by Dade Hayes, a senior editor at Entertainment Weekly. A fellow named Jeff Vrabel told him about Deleted Magic and Star Wars Classic Edition, suggesting that they might be worth a mention in Hayes' News +Notes section.

He's requested copies of the discs. I'll be sending 'em in.

Holy hell, that's pretty goddamned amazing.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

I'm told Deleted Magic has been rented twice ... in the short time that it has been available for rent at Video Journeys in Glendale. My own films have not been rented at all. =(

Deleted Magic was being sold by one vendor at the Big Apple Con. (very large comic books/art/scifi convention in NYC... Carrie Fisher was one of the mainstream guests this year) The vendor had at least 40 copies ready to go, i asked how much and he said he's been selling them for 30 bucks, but would give it to me for 20 (how nice)....

At this point, Rikter would say "Hey guys, where's my cut?"

The cover was one of the mostly sky blue ones. Can't remember if it was just Luke on the cover or the Luke and Biggs shot. But definitely on the back just under the DM logo was film "by Garrett Gilchrist", so at least they are not pulling all the clout away from the creator. It's close to the 'hallwayorchard1.jpg'. My memory is telling me that the 'by GG' line was in a different font. (also darker grey) (i don't think they would have included the text about the non-for profit which is mentioned in the hallwayorchard version) But i didn't pay close enough attention, was in too much of a pissy mood for detail collection.

Oh. That cover's not bad. At least they picked a semi-decent cover that I would recognize.

It annoys me that the price is so high and no one gets a cut but the dirty bootleggers (who I've talked to at various conventions and they always turn out to be huge jerks, so I can dislike them on a personal level), but hey, bootleg sales at conventions (and even Ebay sales) open this film and the information within to an audience who wouldn't find them otherwise. I know I've bought things at conventions to satisfy a curiosity before, back in the day.

There's something to be said for convention bootleggers, for all their jackassholery. Hey, I was one of the people who paid $100 for the awful LOOK trilogy set four or five years ago.

I don't think it needs its own thread so I posted here. If anyone objects to this post being here, I will delete it.

It looks to me like Deleted Magic meets Forgotten Scenes plus a bit extra. I will tell you when my PAL copy arrives.

Does anyone know any more about this DVD??

When I told OCP about this he said.............

That looks like something new, though I'm sure he
took material and ideas from T'Bone's site. Weird. I
have no idea. It's not nearly as bad as The Forgotten
Scenes from what I can see, but not essential viewing.

STAR WARS fans – this is the documentary you’ve never seen about the STAR WARS you don’t know!

NOW THIS HIGHLY ACCLAIMED FAN DOCUMENTARY IS ALSO AVAILABLE IN NTSC FORMAT FOR U.S. FANS!

STAR WARS – FROM THE FILM VAULTS is a fan-made documentary and the result of sixth months research, editing and a lot of hard work. It follows the evolution of STAR WARS Episode IV – A New Hope from the famous ‘lost cut’ to the dvd release of 2004.

Using rare footage and information from sources as diverse as 1970s television broadcasts, long deleted videos, archive tapes and the internet, STAR WARS – FROM THE FILM VAULTS recreates the famous lost scenes from Episode IV in full screen video with sound with full explanations as to how they fit into the original narrative.

The “Original Jabba” scene alone uses footage from no less than eight different sources and is skilfully knitted together to present the full scene as it would have played if George Lucas had abandoned the idea of an alien Jabba.

From the ‘lost cut’ of Episode IV to the Special Edition of 1997 and the even further enhanced dvd release of 2004, this fascinating and well-crafted documentary contains countless clips and facts following the various versions of the film – complete with a never-before seen split-screen comparison between the 1977 and 1997 versions of the film, highlighting the obvious and subtle differences.

This documentary is a labour of love and it’s time to share it with fellow fans. I know you’ve probably never seen it before because it’s all my work – I’m the writer, editor and producer of this DVD. I say “probably” never seen it before because a cut-down version of my work ran in the foyers of certain ODEON CINEMAS during the release of REVENGE OF THE SITH – that version was full of corporate idents and was incomplete – this version is finished and tailored for fans!

This is a not-for-profit venture – hence the low price – the fee charged covers the cost of the disc and packaging, wear-and-tear on equipment and time spent on duplication.

Did anyone ever pick this up?

I've just been sitting down and watching this. I'm really impressed with it, and the way you set it up, following the storyline of the original script, is really interesting.

Just as an aside, the info about Mardji the elephant really threw me off guard. Marine World is just a few miles down the road from me, and chances are I saw this elephant when I was a little kid, and may have played tug of war with it once or twice. Heh.

But yeah, just wanted to say how impressed I was with this. Fantastic work OCP.

Refering back to a few posts earlier...YES, I FELL FOR THE BOOTLEG $$$ INDUSTRY ONCE. JUST 2 MONTHS BEFORE I FOUND ORIGINALTRILOGY.COM...
It wasat a fair, and I saw a "Faces set" With DVD transfers of the FACES WS VHS Tapes.......................I was suckered into it....heck, I was only 12...LOL...........I made my dad buy it for me....It came with 4 discs, te last containing alittle bonus material and a few trailers.

60.00

My dad also got suckered into buying a DVD bootleg of Episode III. Remember this was in august...well, the EP III DVD looked as good as the official one, and had no counter or anything, and was in perfect WS.

Since then, my DVD collection has gotten bigger, and bigger, and is getting bigger, and better, thanks to all these really cool guys at OT.com. Now I know so much, and have seen so much, more than most adults have (SW wise...lol)

Anyway....I'd like to get my hands on that DVD...the "Film Vault" It looks intresting....

Welcome to yet another Unwanted Convention Update:

Seems that there are now two more bootlegger covers:
The First is mostly black, it's got Vader on the cover, front and center, and keeps the DM logo which is over Vader. The back has a revised description which keeps a mention of Garrett. The guy who was selling it was from Los Angeles, so we'll call this the West Coast Cover.

The Second (Let's call it East Coast) has has a blue and copper/brown motif (because of the poor quality of the print out). It's most likely the "Official Star Wars Fan Club 20th Anniversary" Poster. (Poster Book pg.215) The back has a revised description with no mention of Garrett.

The old cover with the dewback is still around.

I had some conversations (polite and confrontational) with these folks and asked them to at least send Garrett a copy of their cover for his collection...
