Now that is a professional looking cover. I especially like Vader down at the base of the spine. It makes the film look professional as well. It sort of reminds me of the cover of the Behind the Magic CD-ROM cover. And my old cut scenes web site. Me likey.

I like it too. Very nice. It surely does cover the 'not enough colour' issue.

Just finished watching this disc and all I can say is INCREDIBLE! This is the disc that SHOULD have been a bonus disc with official discs!

Deleted Magic is a great film.

Coov: The more variation on this you make, the harder time I have deciding which one to use. Those are some great covers.
Have you done one for Return of the Ewok?

I just thought I should post my impressions after watching this disc (finally I have it thanks to Rikter)...

Deleted Magic has multiple menu screens due to the amount of content on the disc, but they all followed a nice and simple design. One thing to note about the menus is that, in my PC, 2 or 3 menu buttons wouldn't do anything when selected. I think they were "Lapti Nek Video", "Chief Bast clip from Holiday Special" and one other. That's only in my PC though, because when I try to select those same buttons in my standalone everything works fine. Which is great that it all works I just always find those kind of menu problems weird.

The film itself; a very cool deconstruction of Star Wars by assembling all sorts of various material (from making of, behind the scenes, tv specials, etc) playing through in the chronological order of Star Wars. I especially liked seeing the deleted scenes for the first time in a long while (I used to have the Behind the Magic CD-ROM). Overall it was a very interesting way of compiling all of that material and certainly a whole lotta fun to watch. Thank you OCPmovie for giving me an entertaining afternoon away from study (currently studying for exams and this disc was a nice escape). Thanks to OCPmovie for making it and Rikter for sending it to me.

Well, I've spent the week Photoshopping up covers for my own films, and as you might have just seen in the Empire Classic thread, I wound up making covers for Empire Classic as well.

So, now it's time I made a cover for Deleted Magic. Oh yes. It may have been a long time coming, but here's an official cover for Deleted Magic.

I used Coov's template, and was inspired by his design slightly. Should go nicely with the covers he's already designed, and the covers previously posted in this thread, some of which I quite like and have saved.

I had planned to do a pretty complex montage of images, but that was already covered by the filmstrip at the bottom (a recreation of something Coov did) ... so I decided to keep the design really simple, with a "Life on Tattooine" feel similar to some of the earlier designs various people did.

I centered it around one really strong image, of the gang at Anchorhead - Luke, Fixer, Camie and Biggs.

This was originally a black and white image, used by Coov on his design. I liked the look of it as a cover, so I went ahead and spent ages colorizing it, trying to be careful in what I did so that it would actually look like it was originally a color image. I used a lot of tricks - I would color balance the bright areas differently from the dark areas, to give it the look of color film processing (where the darks tend to go blue or red).

Luke's face is from a different photo, a color photo. I didn't like the photo of Luke that came with this picture, so I took one from the Lars garage which I happened to have in hi-res. I put the floppy hat and goggles on him and voila.

The problem was that with this image, which was originally color, it became easier to tell that the other people had been colorized .... so I did some weird colorization to both Luke and everyone else to make them match better .... basically ruining the colors on Luke to make him look more similar to the others!

The image of Jabba on the back is a pretty weird one. I almost didn't use it, but I had spent so long making it that I thought hey, why not. I had a small image of Declan Mulholland looking at the camera as Jabba, which was taken from a signed photo I found on the web. I took that little image of his face and put it on a low-res body from the Jabba scene, then I worked on the body a bit and gave it a "burlap" texture so it was harder to tell how poor the body really was. I gave him some more hair which I stole from the photo of Fixer on the front. And then I drew eyes on him since his eyes weren't really visible in the picture. The result still looks pretty weak, and I think I might have made his hair too short, but it's nice to have him on there.

The font used is Big Caslon, which is the same font used for the subtitles in the film!

The Deleted Magic logos are Coov's versions.

The filmstrip at the bottom is basically from Coov's version, but I put a different type of filmstrip perforation around the edges because I thought it could look better, and some of the images were replaced - Camie, Jabba and 3PO ripping the sign off were replaced with better versions, and after trying a picture of Luke's bacta mask out (to replace the image of George Lucas, which I moved to a more prominent place on the back cover) ... I wound up using instead the controversial image of Luke and Leia about to kiss, from the Empire trailer.

Yep. We've got two deleted Leia kisses here, and one is with Luke. No wonder Han and Jenny seem a little confused/nervous.

I am starting a folder in my webspace dedicated to the covers for Deleted Magic and the Classic Editions that I didn't create. Coov has created a lot of versions that then seem to be changed and replaced, so I'm gonna put them all up exactly as I saved them.

I've dug up the Deleted Magic stuff by Ruben Ortiz and Hallway Orchard, one by Gundrosen too.

Some DM covers by Papa Vader, Obi-wan Spicoli and Sluggo seem to have vanished. Wouldn't mind having those back for completion's sake.

Anyone I'm forgetting?

Here it is - a folder full of designs for Deleted Magic and the Classic Editions done by people other than me. Lot of Coov stuff here, I've also included his "Trading Card" set for the O-OT if anyone missed it. A nice set.

Nice covers, ocp, I can't wait to get some empty DVD cases and print some more covers out.

Also, how the hell did I miss that trading card set?! Damn that's neat. There should really be a thread/gallery just of Coov's stuff.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

I noticed that my cover for Classic Edition (ANH) wasn't on your "nonocp" page. Although Coov's covers blew mine out of the water, here's the link to mine if you'd like to add it for completeness sake:

Actually... I would not be surprised if anyone would prefer YOURS! That is some good work, I am sure he just overlooked it.

Thanks Erik! Your cover was great and I approved it as an "official" cover a bit back .... the first really good Classic Edition cover. When I was looking for Deleted Magic covers I didn't look for Classic Edition covers, so thanks for reminding me ...

I put my cover back up if you would like to add it. You can find it here. And disc art here and here if you would like to add that too.

This is a great idea to consolidate all of these.
Greedo shoots first? Not in my DVD player.

Thanks! I'll put it up forthwith. I'm fond of your version of the cover as well.

Don't say consolidate, it makes me think of my student loans ...

Coov, thanks for the compliment. That means a lot coming from you.

And ocpmovie, thanks for adding mine. This is a great resource!

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Thanks to Video Journeys of Los Angeles (Glendale area), who are actually providing Deleted Magic for rent at their store. Rental is free of charge (so hey, no Lucasfilm infringement) as part of their "local filmmakers" section. They have five Orange Cow titles now - Shorts Volume 1, Gods of Los Angeles, Ghostbusted Trilogy, Indulgence, and ... yes, Deleted Magic. I wasn't going to give Deleted Magic to them to rent out, but the guy didn't mind - he said, hey, Lucasfilm isn't going to come in here and shut it down. On my way out, he asked if these discs were any good. I said yes.

(Because I hadn't expected to give them that disc for rent, the rental disc is actually my master copy! Or what used to be my master copy anyway. Guess it isn't anymore.)
