I bought the 'Revenge of the Sith' DVD today, like most of you here in Canada.

I am livid, though, as I just noticed that the spine includes the title in both English and French, thus breaking the continuity and flow of the set when sitting on a shelf.

Why do they put so much money and time into designing these covers and then slap the French title on there, destroying the look?

Does anyone know who distributes the DVD's in Canada so I can get in touch with them to request a cover which doesn't include French?

It looks really awful. I'm very dissappointed...

I feel your pain man, but anyone that orders DVD's from Canada will most often get that often due to Quebec's bi-lingual laws. Ironic that we have to have our products in English and French when we have a province that wishes to seperate from us. If anything, our country's two main languages should be English and Manderin now as I believe we have more asians in our country. Hmm... we should try and get them to mandatory learn French to immigrate here. That'll throw them for a loop. No, this isn't meant in any way a racist remark, I'm just being excesively sarcastic. Sadly, this will discourage others from buying our products (even when they're cheaper) do to this. My only real suggestion is to print out custom covers.

You're not alone dude.....check out the soundtracks to the prequels. The spines on Episodes 1 and 2 match, but the Episode 3 one is totally different.

I swear.....Lucasfilm and Microsoft must be the same company.....they make billions and give us shit for it.

Hi all. Been a fan of this site since day 1.

I am also from Canada, and am really PO'd about the DVD spine. Now they look stupid on the shelf. Also, the colour is different than the first 2. Same for you Cassidy? If you find out how to get a replacement, please let me know.

Maybe some of our American friends can offer us a hi-res scan of the cover WITHOUT the french. (hint, hint)

I am sorry to start off my posting on such a sour note, but hey, you gotta start somewhere, right?

Oh, and does anyone else miss the blooper reel? I was looking forward to that. Instead we get hip-hop Yoda!

Did some digging and it turns out that earlier this year a law was passed Federally that requires media packaging to be in both languages.

Other DVD's I've bought just had the French printed on the reverse side, which was fine, but not this.

It's not an English or French issue here, it's an artistic and aesthetic one. It just looks dumb with the other covers...

I see I'm not the only one upset about this! I could handle french on my Batman Begins DVD, but this one doesn't even look like the others! Now I need to print off a custom just to make it look official!

no offense to anyone who's french because i have no hatred toward them at all... but seriously now....
if they want they're language on a DVD then make one especially for them... dont cramp all that crap on a cover... make it reversable at least

Disgusting, isn't it?

We can share a land mass with the US, we can eat US food, we can watch US film and television, we can read US papers and magazines, but we can't get the same packaging on our DVD's. At least give us the option of buying it in English or French. Fuck.

Well, I just uploaded a hi-res scan of the cover: Cover I can always send it to you. You just have to have a good printer to print and replace it.

I have a feeling they won't replace it. This is probably your only option.

Yes, you can, but it's still pending. I forgot it's now a private site (it will probably go public again once he gets a faster line).

However, I can e-mail it to you if your e-mail account can hold at least 5 megs (the size of the cover). You might have to play around with the colors to get them to match exactlly with the originals, also depends on your printer.

Just let me know if you want it.

I can send it to 20th Century Mark tonight. I'm still a 56ker, so it'd help me out if it was sent out by him to anyone who needs it.

I MAY BE ABLE TO HELP MY FRIENDS HERE THAT ARE NORTH OF THE BORDER. I GET EXTRA DVD COVERS FROM TIME TO TIME. I WILL SEE JUST HOW MANY I CAN GET, AND THEN THEY WILL BE FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. AND YES, THESE ARE THE OFICIAL COVERS.
