Hi guys, I’m Medna. I’m mostly into animated/science fiction stuff, so anything involving those two will be sure to pique my interest. I don’t think I’ll post anything here to the site, project wise. I might DM people to get access to fan edits, though.

Hello all. Really glad to be here. A longtime fan of fan edits in general but more specifically star wars fan edits , began years ago I found on some torrent site (I forget the name of it) extended editions of the prequels (2004 dvd versions) and kinda went from there really.

Hello! I’m so pleased to find this community of likeminded people concentrated around a dear topic. As a kid who was born months after ROTJ, thereby missing the first wave of SW fandom, I was nevertheless always fascinated with the original films and can remember devouring them piecemeal for years, out of context, in random out-of-order snippets on cable TV or holiday broadcasts. It wasn’t until a friend graciously loaned me the films on VHS in the summer of 1994 that I was finally able to see the OT uninterrupted in all its glory, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’m grateful to the efforts of the fans who have worked hard to keep these films alive in the 21st century, giving the rest of us a chance to continue watching them as they were when audiences fell in love with them. I look forward to reading the discussions around here! Cheers.

Hello everyone, I am a preservation enthusiast but just starting my journey and my research lead me to this wonderful site. I cant wait to see how I can provide any help and learn from this community. From the posts I have read, the members here are well ahead of me in their understanding and methodologies and I am excited to not have to re-invent-the-wheel.

I have had to put a stop to physical media and have since started remuxing all of my Blurays, lowly in some respect, but I cant give up quality. Which leads me to my next issue, storage of physical LaserDiscs, SACDs, etc. My hope is just to have everything on my home storage and I just need to worry about finding a place for 4RUs.

Film preservation intrigues me and I have just begun to scratch the surface there, but hoping to learn more.

The name is Adam Loveless (even though on the net I go by Gamepad31) , and I’ve been a fan of Star wars since 1992. I grew up with the original Trilogy and have been a fan since then. I only started my star wars collection on VHS when I stumbled across a post on Twitter showing off Solo, Rogue One and The Sequel Trilogy along with Revenge of the Sith on VHS. that’s what started me on my own Journey to collect the rest of the bootlegs just to have a complete collection. and that even included getting the Documentary along with the Holiday Special on VHS. I have plans to do a Betamax set, along with a D theater, Laser Disc, and HD DVD set as well one day.

Greetings! New to Fanedits and the concept of video/audio editing to re-master Original movies. Found a link which took me here, glad to find it. D/L’ng something new now, the M4 Hobbit re-master. My son and I cannot wait to watch. Thank you all for the work you put in and to the site staff for having such a great place for like minded people.

Hi all. I found this place due to the Despecialized Editions, have been a lurker for a long time and finally decided to join this community of like minded people.

Hey y’all. I’ve been a long-time member over at fanedit.org. Just thought I’d see what’s going on over here.

Hello, I am brand new to this site, and the overall concept of fan edits.

I would love to support this project and watch the despecialized editions. As someone who grew up watching Star Wars on VHS and then being mortified when Lucas ruined the movies with his CIG “updates”, knowing this project exists makes me very happy.

Sadly, I have no idea how to watch the despecialized editions though, I can’t find any “how to” guide on this website, just bunch of forum threads that say “how to” and are filled with comments saying how easy it is, broken links, and loads of acronyms I don’t understand.

So, anyway, thanks for making these. Hopefully I’ll be able to watch them someday.

Well, i guess here i am finally, i knew about this project since i first heard (and immediately after watched as well) “The People vs George Lucas” 8 years or so ago, yet i always failed to notice there was a forum attached.

[Schmultzy TL;DR on]
This actually brings me back way more than 8 years ago, first because Forums have ended up “surclassed” by social media (even though i always maintained this is the superior platform of the two, and not just because i have wonderful memories of experiences in forums throughout my teenage years) unfortunately, but also because back in december 2005 (i was only 15 back then) i joined my first SW fan club, which of course, had its own forum:
Great times were had, cons attended (here in Italy at least, never went to a Celebration in my life, and since Disney bought SW, i can confidently say i’ll never attend one in the future as well), prizes won, Force FX Master Replicas birthday gifted to, marriages witnessed, and, last but definitely not least, hundreds of hours of discussion about either the intricacies or broader topics about Star Wars happened.

I guess, at this point, that it’s safe to say Star Wars gave me a lot (it also took a lot, but that’s a WHOLE different topic right there), i’ve been somewhat pampered when it comes to the theatrical release of the OT, the annual convention i went to had the tradition of projecting the despecialized dvds the last 3 days of the event at midnight, and we would religiously watch them as if it were an actual ritual, which of course brought me back to when i first watched it as a kid in my older cousin’s room at my aunt’s attic.
The issue being: i never owned that particular release of dvds, mostly because i was still a kid and i couldn’t possibly ask my parents to buy me yet another SW set of DVDs, and later they became (justifiably so) pretty much impossible to find by conventional means, which brings me to finding out years later about the despecialized editions.

But dark times befell the franchise, by then Disney bought Star Wars, and for some years i couldn’t bring myself to even watch it (not only was i enamored with the OT, and to some degree and many many asterisks the Prequels as well, but to me the Expanded Universe played a huge part in the evolution of my fandom and the whole perspective i viewed its own Galaxy as a whole, so hearing of it being so unceremoniously canned just has been too much to take for a while), it’s been 4 years at this point that i internally made peace with my memories of SW, obviously it’s impossible for me to repress them, just as it was impossible for Anakin to repress his love for Padmé (many things could be said about their relationship, but such are the facts as we know them), and now i am content to simply reminisce of the good times i had, and maintain the few friendships i forged in the fan club years that stood the test of time, while revisiting at my convenience any piece of media from the original EU (i usually replay every year the whole Dark Forces saga, although KotOR also gets dusted off every random number of years, plus other various titles).
Of course the movies must be a part of all this, and even though i rewatch the prequels as well, it’s not as often as the OT for obvious reasons, but the special editions, especially with the updated changes in the Complete Saga box set, which i was gifted to back in 2011 are like a punch in the eye and a dropkick to the ear simultaneously, which is why i could never be thankful enough that this project exists, otherwise the OT would end up being the less revisited of the two, and boy would that be both strange and a shame.
[Schmultzy TL;DR off]

So now that i opened myself again to Star Wars (albeit in my own unique way), i feel like it’s about time that i joined again a platform to discuss at least some aspects of it, and why not the forum of the fan project that dedicates itself to preserving the theatrical versions of the original trilogy?

Thank you all for reading (TLDR or not) this, and a special thanks to HARMY and everyone else that participated by giving even the smallest input, the result is clearly a legendary feat that already is “worthy of recognition in the archives of the Jedi Order”
: )

Hi everyone!! I just found this site from a comment by JJPotter on his trailer for his fanedits of the Harry Potter movies. I came here to hopefully read more about them, and then found all this info on the original Star Wars trilogy!!! My boyfriend has been wanting forever to see them again but struggled to find them, and he’s really wanted to show me them since I’m young enough to have never seen them. After I finish this post I’ll be exploring this site a TON more, and maybe one day he and I will finally get to watch the OT from one of the fan projects here:D The site seems wonderful so far, so many creators and editors and people who care so much about all this beloved media. Thank you!! -Kneppa

My first film I got to see was the midnight showing of TPM in '99 and ever since then, I have been an avid lover of Star Wars. Those movies genuinely meant a lot to me growing up, as I’m more than sure it did for everyone else here in some way or another. Anyways, glad to meet everyone ^^

AT last, we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi.

Malkil here, an OG Star Wars fanatic. I gave up searching for the theatrical releases of the original trilogy years ago, but decided to search again recently, and found this site along with the 4K 77 project I have to say I’m over the moon and my heart is full of warm memories coming back. Anyways, I don’t know how much posting I’ll do but I’ll be reading and lurking.

Remember; the Force will be with you, always.

I’m Tjorben, I watched the Harmy Edits a few years ago and was wondering, if there ist new stuff available, since the despecialized edits I had, all were only in 720p.

Hope to get some new edits as soon as possible. 😄
