I came across a Star Wars Fan film which had a background for an escape pod… It’s good because it is similar to the Saturn Rocket Separation footage on which the escape pod shot is based.

Just a quick extra thought, but the full Ring Element can only be found in 4:3 version of the footage otherwise it is cropped out. Weather this is something that you want to do or not…Or composition / restoration ideas.
There is another missing matte element when Vader “says I have you now!” the next shot where his joystick is on the controls before he fires the window is missing the trench. It’s totally black was never composited the walls but It also can be cropped out to fix it too…
I looked at the Darth Editous change list you pointed to and especially like Luke say “Yeah” to Han “are you in Kid?” at the start of the turret battle over the comms. I put Radio sound distortion on this if his version did’nt

I only just started fiddling with this element but there is good possibilities in it.
I’m feeling generous so this one I already did and it’s very easy to do and I thought it worked well I luma keyed this into Red Leaders target display before he fires and impacts the surface.
