RoboCop (1987) Criterion Collection LD Audio Preservation (Released)

hello friends 😃

i finished capturing the pcm from the robocop cc cav-ld (bit-perfect), so it can be used for upcoming 4k mastered bd (january 2014). i’ve also captured the video at a low bitrate for easier syncing (needs ivtc).

if anyone wants to use these files for syncing to the current bd and/or upcoming bd, let me know. i wont sync it myself, so please don’t contact me, if you want the synced audio.

1.85:1 ratio as expected. But detail looks really good.

Sound is 5.1 remix only, based on 70mm six track?

Was the Criterion DVD audio the 5.1 remix?

no. it was dolby digital 2.0 surround.

Hi zeropc. Is the PCM rip 2.0 Stereo or Surround?

I've synced your rip to the Criterion DVD.

Great thanks. Do I need to save the file using a particular method to maintain the surround matrix channels? I simply synced it in Audacity and exported as a wav file.

I ended up rebuilding my DVDrip again as I noticed the top was slightly cropped. So now I have 1.66:1 video which has been reformatted to work on 16:9. Still can't get the picture quality quite the same as the original DVD. Probably down to the encoder (HC) I'm using in DVD rebuilder. CCE apparently costs $1000 so that's out.

I've sync'd up the PCM track and so far so good! First time I've done this so quite pleased with the result. I'll be able to upload the track at some point if anyone is interested.

Does anyone have a copy of this and would be able to PM me a link? zeropc hasn’t visited the forum in months so I’m guessing he won’t be able to.

I have the LD and DVD of the criterion version. I’ll have to rip the audio files but I can probably get them for you

Thank you! Though I should add that I already have the Criterion DVD, so am mainly after the PCM laserdisc audio.

does the laserdisc sound any better than the bluray 5.1 ?

I believe the LD track is a two channel mix.

does anyone happen to have a rip of the criterion dvd or LD reformatted for 16:9?, ive tried ripping and doing it with my dvd with no luck
