William Shatner’s TekWar & Alien Nation, two off the beat sci-fi series I quite liked, I have all the episodes of both tv shows but not the all the films, is anyone or has anyone converted the films to DVD? as far as the films go I only have the original '89 Alien Nation film and the first TekWar film on laserdisc.

The Alien Nation films produced after the tv series are:

Alien Nation: Dark Horizon (1994)
Alien Nation: Body and Soul (1995)
Alien Nation: Millennium (1996)
Alien Nation: The Enemy Within (1996)
Alien Nation: The Udara Legacy (1997)

and the TekWar films produced before the tv series are:

TekWar: The Original Movie (1994) (I have the laserdisc of this, which is what got me into the series)
TekWar: TekJustice (1994)
TekWar: TekLab (1994)
TekWar: TekLords (1994)

which Of the tekwar movies did shatner direct or star in?

There is no dvd of the television series so if someone has it, it would make a good preservation project.

Shatner' star trek memories which is only on vhs should also be put on dvd.

I think Shatner is only in the first TekWar movie and one maybe two of the episodes, I have the official 5-disc boxset of the TekWar series (18 episodes) and I've got my eye on an auction for the 4 films on VHS; TekWar, TekLords, TekLab & TekJustice. If I feel rich enough to bid I will so I can complete the entire collection, possibly converting the first TekWar film (NTSC laserdisc) and the 5-disc box set (NTSC DVD) to PAL DVD because that's my native viewing format.

Ok so I won bidding on the 4 TekWar VHS films, now the "DVDs To Do" list is:

Finish Star Wars trilogy
Blade Runner HDTV to DVD
Re-do Explorers DVD (make menus, restore the bonus scenes)
Re-do my complete ReBoot DVD set
TekWar PAL VHSs, NTSC laserdisc & NTSC DVDs to a PAL DVD set.

*phew* I don't think I'm ever going to run out of projects

Anyway I can have a ntsc copy of your first tekwar movie on laserdisc, when you make a dvd. I know you already said you were doing pal, but if the source is ntsc it would'nt be to hard to make both versions as a release in this thread.

Don't know if you knew that there was a tekwar book on tape read by william shatner, that could be included on the dvd as a bonus.

One rare movie not on an official dvd release I want is, Legend of the Rangers. The only Babylon 5 movie not released to date, I love bill mumy's work in this series.

I have all 5 Alien Nation movies on DVD if you're interested. Dark Horizon was the only one released on VHS, for some reason. The quality varies but all are watchable. BTW Alien Nation is being released legitimately in January (region 1 anyway), you can check it out here.

I'll do a straight dump of the NTSC TekWar LD to NTSC DVD if you want but I have no plans of making an NTSC set of TekWar.

As for Alien Nation, the series was released on DVD from Columbia House (mail order only) and fetches stupidly high prices on eBay:

Good to see it's going to get a decent release now, I wonder how the picture quality will compare...

Some of the Alien Nation tv movies were released on VHS in Australia, "Dark Horizon", "Body and Soul" & "Millennium" at least.

Yes, that was part of Columbia House's TV classics line or some such. After the studios realized how much could be made from sales of TV shows, they simply started distributing them on DVD themselves, and for a much better price. Believe it or not, the price it went for is about what the discs cost originally. Each individual DVD was about $20-$25 seperately, and you had to buy all 7 to get the entire series! I almost feel sorry for the people duped into paying that astronomical price. Anyway did you want to trade discs? Let me know via PM or email.
