What software did you use for scratch removal? Any recommendations for a Mac user?
thx…
It’s all photoshop healing brush with content aware fill as defaults setting. Lately I have added a first step since the beta of the new restoration Neural filter AI in photoshop. You have to download the beta to use it. Been exporting every frame into photoshop beta with the AI neural filter and a scratch removal of 70 and noise 9. This first pass (I only do if it is a lot) will be time-consuming but will remove 80% sometimes it soften the image, not too bad for deleted scenes cause they are already bad. Also when I say 80%, it is removing hundreds of dust so its worth it even though I process each frame. I have an action set up so I can do maybe 60 frames at a time and come back and check. Then healing brush as a manual removal effort. Sometimes if scratches are over an image I have to use a previous frame and also some clone stamp usually this is only 1 or 2 frame so not that big a deal. Also I have isolated backgrounds before and cleaned them so I have a clean plate and mask the subject in After effect and recomposite. This is only for some things and when there is no camera movement. It all really depends on the footage. premier is my final editing tool but that is only because I am a PC user. No restoration in premier other than it has the best color match of the adobe tools (better than AE actually) so that happens for some footage - but premier has nothing to do with dust of course.
