Most live-action superhero movies are garbage. The MCU and DCEU can both die in vault fires.

“The Anarchists are right in everything; in the negation of the existing order and in the assertion that, without Authority there could not be worse violence than that of Authority under existing conditions. They are mistaken only in thinking that anarchy can be instituted by a violent revolution… There can be only one permanent revolution — a moral one: the regeneration of the inner man. How is this revolution to take place? Nobody knows how it will take place in humanity, but every man feels it clearly in himself. And yet in our world everybody thinks of changing humanity, and nobody thinks of changing himself.”

They are the pinnacle of consumerism and the bourgeoisie.

To me, Sidney Lumet’s masterwork is not 12 Angry Men but rather Fail Safe, a Cold War thriller that keeps you at the edge of your seat until the end credits roll.

I agree. 12 Angry Men is very overrated.

The Prestige is the best Christopher Nolan movie.

Citizen Kane, while still a really good movie, isn’t the best Orson Welles film. That honor goes to Touch of Evil, a brilliant film noir that looks incredible and has great acting and suspense decades later.

Low bar.

Yeah, I said it.

Dunno if this is that unpopular. Regardless…

The Lion King is extremely overrated. I don’t dislike it at all and actually think it’s pretty good, but it doesn’t even compare to other animated movies I’ve seen.

Any film which simps for monarchy is overrated. Yes, even ones with talking cartoon animals.

The SNES version of Final Fantasy VI is the best version of the game. Incredible amount of modding support, orchestral audio on a 16-bit console sound chip, and multiplayer that all newer releases lack makes the SNES version worth owning or emulating.

It’s the classic films shot on 35mm or 70mm, and not the newest blockbusters that make 4K Ultra HD worth owning. Classics such as The Red Shoes (1948), Casablanca (1942), The Thing (1982) and Singin’ in the Rain (1952) often have big improvements over the 1080p versions, while the newest blockbusters often show little improvement over 1080p.

I don’t think this is unpopular at all.

The Big Bang Theory is overrated as fuck. I mean, I like the first three seasons, but after the third season the show becomes bad, in my opinion. Ever since they decided to give Sheldon a girlfriend, the show became bad. I can kinda accept Howard having a girlfriend, and I think Penny and Leonard are cute in the first three seasons. But then they introduced Amy, and I really can’t stand it after that. I liked it when the jokes where mostly about science and science fiction, not about couples, marriage, sex and the usual bulshit.

Stranger Things should’ve ended after Season 1. The only thing of value the sequels brought to the table was the Mind Flayer in Season 2, and even it’s been ruined by the Vecna retcons in Season 4.

Lord of the Rings Trilogy and The Hobbit Trilogy are both way over rated, I would rather do back to back viewings of the Star War PT & ST than watch them.
I seriously don’t get what all the fuss is about.

Evil Dead Rise looks likes it’s gonna be more insipid horseshit in the same vein as the '13 film. Hard pass.

(Very unpopular opinion incoming)

In my personal opinion, the 1980s were when pop culture (music especially) started to flush down the toilet. (This doesn’t mean that EVERYTHING from the era was bad, but there was, IMO, an overall decay in quality.

What really bothers me the most is the persistent obsession with 1980s pop culture.

Seriously? Will it ever end?

I think it’s because many people alive today (mainly Gen X and late Baby Boomers) were kids back then, so I believe it’s that mangy dog known as nostalgia.

There’s also the obsession with the 1990s too, mainly experienced by millennials and some of Gen Z.

However, I think the obsession with the 1980s (and, to an extent, the 1970s) partly comes from the elitism from the “back in my day” stubborn subset of some of the Baby Boomers, who think their time was better than today.

Now, not to shit on that generation, as there are plenty of sane, forward looking members, but the fact that they were called the “Me” Generation says a lot about this.

It’s pretty annoying when some people say that '80s music was better than today when the '80s had their fair share of godawful music like cheesy hair metal and some of synthpop. Same with the '70s, and to add on to this, I think jazz took a major hit in the 50s and 60s.

In fact… A lot of early rock and roll in the 50s was very repetitive, often sharing the exact same melody!!!

This also extends to movies, too (especially American film).
