Eh, I think IMDb counts as numbers, but admittedly, most people don’t contribute to IMDb.

So I’m not the biggest fan of the whole, how much of the fanbase actually likes something debate, cause it’s often difficult to actually gage something like this, and just because someone’s opinion doesn’t match with the majority doesn’t mean that said opinion is invalid, just that it’s not with the majority. However, if we want to get into the discussion on whether a show is popular or not the best we can do is go to several review aggregate sites and look at the ratings so that we’re not just throwing out opinions that we don’t know the validity of because obviously, people who liked a particular show would say that most people enjoyed it. So I went and collected the data from aggregate review sites, and I’m only looking at the audience ratings and if the site gives a number of how many people reviewed it I’ll post that as well. So IMDB has around 7.1 with 2.9K reviews, Google Users has 84% liking the show, Rotten Tomatoes has it at 64%, Metacritic has 6.6 user rating with 1,981 reviews, and letterbox has it at 3.3/5 with 103,883 reviews. If we take these numbers then we can say that the majority of people did in fact like Obi-Wan, but the fact that the approval rating is only around 65 would imply that people more than likely thought the show was just OK. That’s not an extremely good rating, but it does go to show that most people don’t feel that strongly about the show one way or the other, but that they’re more positive about it than not. Again I don’t really like this whole discussion but if we’re going to be claiming that a majority of people did or did not like something then it should probably be backed up by actually going and looking at the data we have available. And again no opinions are really invalid so even if someone disagrees with the majority that opinion is still completely valid.

Patty Jenkins says Rogue Squadron is still in “active development”.

She has responded to some rumours about Rogue Squadron and Wonder Woman 3 on her twitter account.

“I originally left Rogue Squadron after a long and productive development process when it became clear it couldn’t happen soon enough and I did not want to delay WW3 any further. When I did Lucasfilm, asked me to consider coming back to RS after WW3, which I was honored to do and agreed. They made a new deal with me. In fact, I am still on it and that project has been in active development ever since. I don’t know if it will happen or not. We never do until the development process is complete, but I look forward to the potential ahead.”

She then talks about WW3.

I hope it does get made, and that it is as good we many of us interested in the RS film hope it to be.

The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear.

This post is very good, and a reminder that what we often see often reddit or YouTube isn’t necessarily fact, or even accurate of the bigger picture. There is far more information to be taken into account than a subset of online fandom, including channels with their own biases and audience appeal. No matter how popular people think these channels are.

The same for me. An X Wing film is something of a no-brainer for Lucasfilm, One that should appeal to much of the fandom. I just hope they take their time and get it right.

They could re-badge Tpp Gun: Maverick as a Star Wars film, as it was basically a good Star Wars film anyway! 😃

What a disappointment. Variety have a good track record, but I hope they are wrong about Rogue Squadron being shelved.

Lucasfilm announce a Star Wars: Top Gun type Rogue Squadron film through a teaser with the film’s director in 2020.

Top Gun 2 is actually released and does very well at the box office and also with fans in 2022.

Lucasfilm then decides it doesn’t want to do the Top Gun type Rogue Squadron film anymore in 2023.

What the hell?

Yeah they cancelled it a second time, i have very big doubts it ever comes back off the shelf.

It is DOA like the Feige thing. And the Rian Johnson films.

But apparently the Waititi project will get made.

Kathleen Kennedy says that Rogue Squadron is “definitively something we still talk about, whether it’s a movie or where it ends up being in the series space” (on Disney+):

Kathleen Kennedy on the Future of Star Wars | Star Wars Celebration 2023 - at IGN YouTube, at 5:20 minutes.

I’d prefer a film, but could get on board with a series.

That video does make it sound like it could very much happen, but I just refuse to get my hopes up for this. I’d love them to take their time and get this right, but I just don’t see it happening as a film or even as a series anymore. And I want to be so very wrong about that. Dammit Star Wars!

Jenkins back to working on Rogue Squadron?
https://www.darkhorizons.com/jenkins-back-on-rogue-squadron-film/

“So, when I left Star Wars to do Wonder Woman 3 , I thought maybe I’ll come back to Star Wars after Wonder Woman 3 . So we did a deal for that to happen, started a deal, but I thought I was doing Wonder Woman.

When that went away, Lucasfilm and I were like, oh, we gotta finish this deal. We finished the deal right as the strike was happening. So I now owe a draft of Star Wars and so we will see what happens there. You know, like, who knows?

It’s hard, they have a hard job in front of them of what’s the first movie they’re gonna do. They have other directors who have been working, but I am now, you know, I’m back on doing Rogue Squadron and we’ll see what happens. We need to develop, you know, get it to where we’re both super happy with it.

I hope it’ll happen, its a be a bit of no brainer to me, as a film or a series.

It would work better as a series, to flesh the characters out more, but it wouldn’t have a high enough budget. That’s why it’s a movie
