So let me ask a noob question:

What tools could one use to add subtitle files to already created VOB files?

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

As s7en explained, these subs are guaranteed to be off on any other bootleg or official version of ROTS because the video on this version kept skipping and replaying parts twice.

You would have to use a program like Subtitle Workshop (google it) to resync the subs at those particular points. To add to an already authored DVD, you'd have to unpack the VOBs, add the subs, then re-author it.

[X0 Project]
[Backstroke of the West DVD]
[ROTS Theatrical DVD]

Thanks, Zion.

I can't seem to find authoring software that will import a subtitle/subpicture file. Can you recommend anything?

Which one(s) have you tried so far ?

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Sony Vegas, Pinnacle Studio, & Nero Recode. Again, I'm a noob, so it's possible I've overlooked something.

I love this thing so much, I made some 100x100 LiveJournal icons for whoever wants to use them. Currently, I'm using the Jedi Council one. There is also one here I didn't make, but I have been using for a while because it's hilarious.

That torrent seems to be down, is anyone posting it to a.b.starwars?

My plan is to add these subs to the official ROTS dvd and reauthor it. Not sure yet if I want to tinker with adding in any deleted scenes for my own personal "I pwn'd George Lucas" edit.

would you be distributing that in any way? you do a much better job of these things than i do.

I don't have the DVD, but I can post the AVI to a.b.sw if you like ....

If you're looking for the subfile I think it's still on the server I put it... I'd have to check.

[bump]

Like everyone else, I'm kinda hoping to see a DVD-R of Ep III with Backstroke subs. I sorta wish the Backstroke subs had been the Easter Egg, instead of the sorta-lame gangsta-rapping Yoda.

You ever see the extras for Eurotrip? The director/producers had some clips from the bootleg versions they'd bought someplace. That's what I think DVD extras should be for: stealing the thunder of, and poking fun at, the people who rip you off.

I was kinda hoping that ADigitalMan would add it to his edit since I know I'll be grabbing that.
