Wal-Mart gets Star Wars bonus disc for ROTS — Page 2

I know that lately Sam's Club (and WM to a lesser degree) has been only placing the bonus pack in's with the Fool Screen editions. I complained about it and the general consensus at the front desk was... "Huh?". I plan on writing a letter to WM corporate about it. Not that it will do any good. The sad truth is that WM cares a lot more about their Nascar customers* than they do about their DVD buyers.

*This is not meant to slight Nascar fans as a whole since I know some of you here follow the sport. But I think you know what I mean.

These are the feauturettes fox television showed the anakin one with the premiere of clones on fox 25, and the luke one on a reshowing of star wars special edition, and empire strikes back special edition not the 2004.

not on this bonus dvd, which is on the videonow disc is behind the scenes making of star wars footage, which I imagine is the making of star wars with C3PO and artoo detoo.

This post was earlier in this thread, in case ya's missed it. If this the actual content, I assume each of those specials was 30 mins, so there's your 60 mins.

As far as Foolscreen goes, it's infuriating that by now, it hasn't been largely phased out. I can't believe so many new releases come in both flavors. Yeah, some people "don't like the black bars" but guess what? Deal with it. I'm sure after about 10 seconds of whining, they'll get used to it. I don't think John Q. Public would stop buying movies if they were only available in Widescreen. Plus, 99% of DVD players seem to come with a zoom function, and on the first zoom, you can create the illusion of foolscreen to your heart's content. Some players even have a "full frame" BUTTON. Plus, doesn't it cost more money to create the pan & scan version? *Someone* has to chop up the flick, no? Seems like studios would be saving dough by making just Widescreen, unless I'm oversimplifying the business/process.

I hate when both FS and WS are in identical packaging-- not even different color banners or anything. I was in line with Minority Report when it first came out, and if there wasn't a long wait and I didn't have extra time to peruse the back of the case, I would've walked out with FS.

And regarding the Bonus discs being packaged with FS-- couldn't someone just take both up to the service desk and explain that "Since you don't have the WS with the bonus disc, you're gonna go ahead and open this 2-pack, and you're going to give me the disc with the WS, mmmkay, thanks."? Or if they don't do that, suggest that after you purchase the 2-pack, you can go to the return desk, and they could just take back the FS as a return? Maybe? I don't know.

Those featurettes he speaks of aren't nearly 30 minutes each, more like 10. And we don't know for sure yet if the disc will come with just "fool" screen. We do know, however, that the disc will cost extra, since walmart.com shows the ROTS disc alone costs $15, while the one with the bonus disc costs runs the total price up to $25.

some say the dvd will include this :

Good point about the prices. I don't know where you got 10 mins from, but according to the link posted by Ash595, that PVD (what the heck is a PVD?) has 3 discs, and the first 2 appear to be what's on the Bonus disc (makes no sense that disc 3 content isn't on it, since it's Sith-related-- unless it's overlap of something elsewhere):

Three Personal Video Discs (PVDs), each packed with more than 25 minutes of video that you love! This collection is designed exclusively for your VIDEONOW COLOR Personal Video Player! Just pack these PVDs along with you for awesome video entertainment that’s anytime, anywhere!

The amazing Star Wars movies have reached generations. Now VIDEONOW gives you this incredible three-pack of PVDs about two of its greatest characters: Luke Skywalker and Anakin Skywalker. Narrated by R2-D2 and C-3PO, these discs unfold the story behind both trilogies, and a third disc gives you exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of Jedi and Sith battle styles, lightsaber dueling techniques, incredible stunts and more!

* Disc one contains “The Story of Luke Skywalker.”
* Disc two contains “The Story of Anakin Skywalker.”
* Disc three contains “Behind the Scenes of Star Wars.”

Good GOD, man, are you MAD!!!!????? Have you ever tried to explain even the simplest of scenarios or gotten the tiniest bit of information out of a Wal Mart employee lately? LOL!

Seriously, though... nine times out of ten, when they do the pack in deals, the bar codes on the DVD's have an indication that they are not for sale seperately.

I didn't want to start a whole new thing for this, but in a DVD review for Sith, it was revealed that:

This includes the "web documentary" series on the making of the film that's available on the official Star Wars website ( although only 15 of the complete 18 parts are included here , likely for disc space reasons - missing are Going to the Dark Side, Behind the Curtain and Ten Gallons of Buildings)

Argh-- this sort of Lucasfilm video release shenanigan isn't a surprise, but come on. I mean, if you're gonna go the whole nine, go the whole nine. If it was really a matter of space, couldn't a bit of the extraneous bits go (like some of the video game stuff), so the whole web doc could be included?

a fan preservation dvd should be made with all 18 parts of the web documentary since lucasfilm sadly has failed again to give the fans what they want.

Now that ROTS is out on DVD............

We in the UK do not get the Walmart bonus DVD at the Walmart owned chain (ASDA).

What is this bonus DVD like, is it any good and is it worth what a fellow collector is doing to get me a proper copy?

99% of all big time cd's and DVD's come out on Tuesday here in the States and on Monday for most of the rest of the world....so of the release s are on the same week, you'll alwyas have it before us. Now Australia and Asia and S. America.....thats far worse....they get shit months later.

Just picked it up from the post office.

It's broken up by:
The story of Anakin Skywalker: 30m 01s
The story of Luke Skywalker 29m 56s

Anakin includes only Phantom Menace and Clones and was obviously filmed before Sith. It literally takes you step-by-step through the first two movies

Luke includes SW, E and Jedi

It looks like this is exactly what was on FOX...although I haven't seen it since they were originally on. It literally takes you step-by-step through the the first 5 movies.

Full screen. 2.0 Stereo sound. No chapter stops.

So no new material, then? If that's the case, I'll probably go anywhere but Wal-Mart.

Not "new" as in "newly-created for this disc."

But we knew that going into it.

i'll see how much it is at work tomorrow. I work at CVS and probably could have had my hands on it last friday, but I had a 10-hours shoot to do. CVS usually has more foolscreen than widescreen copies though. Apparently, they are technically backwards people.
