If the original laser discs are inconsistent as you say, then maybe the original version was inconsistent as to the coloring due to the photographic processes used, and when the digital restoration for the modern release was done, Disney went back and tried to make it more consistent. Therefore, you might change only the shots that look different in the laser disc release.

BD25 then? Would make for a great Disc 2 with the official Blu-ray disc release I own. The DVD which came with it I have in a separate binder.

I’m guessing the original theatrical release of this was somewhat inconsistent due to the techniques used combining the cgi and the live actors. One thing I remember is the “flicker” of the characters that was actually not intended, but written off as “glitches” in the Tron world. They added sound effects to go along with the flicker for the blu-ray so it appears intentional.

Great news! Looking forward to it! I’ve been wondering how this was going.

After a long time of research, it seems that the film may have indeed had a strong blue tint when in theatres, meaning that the blu-ray only needs a little bit of adjustment. With that in mind, I’m going to do 2 versions, one that looks more like my original remaster, and one that to my eyes is more accurate to the theatrical version. Both will have restored original stereo audio from the Laserdisc. Work on this will begin soon.

If you want, I could make some foreign-language titles and credits to go with any foreign-language audio tracks.

Thanks for the offer, but I’m only including the english stereo track from the laserdisc. My stuff is pretty barebones most of the time.

Oh. Well, at any rate, I’d like to recreate the original three-slide prologue in high definition, so you can give us the option to watch it with or without.

I can include it in the Mango Colors Version, but I don’t think it should be in the Theatrical Version. Does that sound alright to you?

Fair enough for me. I’ll start work on the individual slides soon, and then combine them into an MOV file, if that’s the format you prefer.

It has come to my attention that the blu-ray is not a very good source for the movie as the majority of the film has been “corrected” in several ways. It also has become apparent that the movie is in fact supposed to have a strong blue tint, even stronger then on the blu-ray. For these reasons, a new version of the project will be underway soon using the original 1998 DVD as the source. The entire film will be upscaled using Topaz Video Enhance AI and the movie will be color corrected accordingly.

Best to just use the Blu-Ray. Even using an upscaler, an old letterboxed DVD still won’t look that good.
