would love to see an edit of Conan The Destroyer…I have only found info for one edit online and it seems hard to obtain .Something that puts back in a lot of the score from the original 1982 CTB would be nice. and cut down the goofy bits with Malak the thief and excises the camel scene where Malak says " remember that "? or some such nonsense . I mean,WTF Malak , you weren’t even there !

I would love to see a fanfix of Oz the Great and Powerful, even though I’m planning on making one myself. I don’t have the Blu-ray (I only have the DVD), but I will order it sometime soon.
If I get to make my fanfix, I will be using Adobe Premiere Pro for the video edits and Audacity for the audio edits. One of the changes I will make is dubbing Mila Kunis’s Wicked Witch Theodora dialogue to make her not full of Narm. This will make the ADR’d cackle fit with the voice more and make it seem like her voice changed after the transformation, like Anakin/Darth Vader. I will also cut out all the dialogue referencing the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz, because with the references intact, it basically reminds us of a much better movie we could be watching instead. Although I can give a pass to a lot of the crap OtGaP does, I can’t stand the fact that Theodora is the Wicked Witch of the West because she’s Woman Scorned, which is a trope I hate.

I want a fan restoration of Executive Decision (1996) that is the theatrical cut in Blu-ray quality. Currently, the theatrical cut only exists in the standard-definition DVD and laserdisc format. If someone were to splice the scenes from the DVD/laserdisc version that are missing from the Blu-ray, and use software to upscale the missing scenes to 1080p quality with color correction/sharpening, that would be great. The closest already existing example I can compare this to is the uncut upscale of Scream (1996) where someone spliced the uncut scenes from the laserdisc to the cut version of the Blu-ray.

Why not a preservation of a 35mm film print for Executive Decision instead of this unneeded upscaled shit?

For me it’d probably be random Extended Editions aka Longer Cuts of films, not fan edits. The list is as such:
ALIEN
DUNE (1984)
IT (Chapter One and Two more similar to the book with tons of deleted scenes and exclusive bonus features.)
KILL BILL (Whole Bloody Affair)
PROMETHEUS
SCREAM 1 (1996)
STAR WARS
THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
RETURN OF THE JEDI
SUPERMAN II
SUPERMAN III
SUPERMAN IV: THE QUEST FOR PEACE
THE TERMINATOR

And MORE!

That’s a great point. I hadn’t even considered that. I suppose I was thinking it would be easier/less time-consuming if someone merely updated the DVD footage, but you’re right that a digitized film reel transfer would be better and preferable.

An edit of the Star Trek Enterprise finale, “These Are the Voyages”, without the bits from TNG would be great.

Simultaneously, I’d love an edit of the TNG episode “Pegasus” with “These Are the Voyages” intercut, as the TNG bits take place during that episode.

Zarius edit of Superman: Brainiac Attacks Superman tas risk and
Revelation that lines it up with the dcau but with some more minor adjustments to make it perfect like still having Lexopolis mentioned The only issue that I had with it editing-wise is that some of the transitions/dissolves are way too fast and would have needed a bit more space to breath. Namely: Clark throwing his glasses in the trash bin to Supes arriving in the Arctic, Super-Computer scene to Supes first entering the Phantom Zone, and first Lex Scene to back in the Phantom Zone. With more room to breath at those spots I’d call this edit perfect.

Technically, it has the issue of the audio being too low for some reason. I had to raise the volume way up to watch it. Video looks fine, no artifact whatsoever, but it appears to be an 8bit export and not a 32bit one, so image is overall darkened and the darkest spots are flattened.

These are the issues a reviewer mentioned with this edit if these were resolved it would make this flawed movie a decent episode of the series I hope someone considers doing it one day if not I understand just asking that’s thank you.

I’d really like the extended cut of Dead Poets Society to be resurrected on BR.
I had the laser disk ages ago and didn’t convert it when I copied over my laser disks, thought at the time it was a slam dunk for a dvd release. Ha…ah…ha ha …yeah…

I would love an edit of the anime JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure where their musical references play during the Stand Stats and where every character speaks their native language (although not all the time, obviously, since it is very common for characters from different countries to interact with each other)

She-Hulk: Episode 6, remove Mr Immortal and his side arc. It distracts from the main arc, the reverse-sexism doesn’t match the pro-feminism message of the entire rest of the show, and it completely demolishes the comic book character of Mr Immortal to make him completely unsalvageable without a major retcon. Ever since Deadpool 1 was released, I’ve had such high hopes that Mr Immortal would one day get a movie or show, but the MCU destroyed that dream, so I’d rather not be reminded of it on future re-watches. The only thing the arc contributes is letting She-Hulk’s friend know that a website exists, but I feel like she could have naturally stumbled onto the site without the sexist character assassination scenes.

Nocturnal Animals - An edit that only includes the Nocturnal Animals part of the story. The “real world” arc has horrible acting and unrelatable characters, imo, but the “book” arc would be really moving if it weren’t broken up with unnecessarily obscene and boring filler. EDIT: That was fast, one exists called “Nocturnal Visions” if you want to search for it.

40’s/50’s themed edits of some of the big slasher flicks of the '80s.

A handful of them would genuinely benefit from it.

I’m not really that much of a movie purist. I really should’ve thought my name out a bit more.

I’d love to see an edit of Unbreakable that removes the two freeze frames & title cards from the ending.

Spoilers

“David Dunn led authorities to Limited Edition where evidence of three acts of terrorism was found.”
“Elijah Price is now in an institution for the criminally insane.”

I love Unbreakable, but those moments are so cheesy. The point has been made. I don’t need to know that the good guy saves the day … especially if it’s coming from a previously unseen narrator. Always takes me out of the movie. Which is bad considering it’s literally the last 30 seconds.

Star Wars as Film Noir.
Black and white. Wipe the John Williams score, replace with bluesy jazz.
Diminish the action, focus on betrayals or Fate’s dark hand.
Christensen’s would make the better Noir character.

I’d love a fanedit of the second Silent Hill film that makes it watchable. Not sure how exactly that would be accomplished but I’d applaud the editor who could make it happen.

That would be the easiest fanedit ever made actually.

Has anybody ever taken an attempt at reinserting certain scenes from the original Rocky IV into the recently released Rocky vs Drago film?! Was kinda hoping that version of the film would have been a little longer where instead, it ended up being of a similar duration.

I have a couple:

Loki Series Movie edit that maybe cuts down some of the boring bits and includes the Ant-Man after-credit scene.

Moon Knight Movie Edit, with some revisions as well.

Phantom Menace and AOTC with Dooku TOTJ interspersed.

Dr. Strange and the Multiverse Madness revision cuts much of the dumb stuff out. Maybe including a Wandavision intended addition without the Bohner and the other not-funny characters.

Wednesday movie edit that cuts some of the plot lines that don’t go anywhere.

Star Wars Rebels episodes that include Ahsoka edited together and revised, including the TOTJ stories.

Source Code edit that changes the end to wear the soldier dies at the end, and they don’t ruin it by trying to set up a sequel.

Batman Begins revised.

I have some requests/ideas here:

  • Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2: re-edited audio tracks with game sound effects and game music
  • Castle in the Sky (Laputa) Japanese audio with the American score (and an alternate version with the updated American sound effects from the 2003 Disney DVD)
  • Kiki’s Delivery Service: Japanese audio with the American score and theme songs from the 1998 Disney dub (with an alternate version with the Japanese theme songs paired with the American score, just like the Mandarin DVD dub)
  • Kiki’s Delivery Service: Disney English dub 2010 cut dialogue Mandarin mix (Japanese theme songs but with the US score)
  • Kiki’s Delivery Service: Disney English dub 1998 uncut dialogue with Japanese score
  • Kiki’s Delivery Service: Disney English dub 1998 uncut dialogue Mandarin mix
  • (500) Days of Summer: The Chronological Cut
  • Super Mario Bros. 1993 (The Morton Jankel Cut and Theatrical) re-edited audio tracks with game sound effects and music
  • The Wind Rises: 3.1 stereo remix in Japanese and English (mono sound effects and dialogue, stereo music from the soundtrack LP album) (yes, this 2013 film was mixed in mono)

My idea is to work on Alan Parker’s first movie ‘Bugsy Malone’. Parker commissioned Paul Williams for the soundtrack - who wrote some great songs for the movie - but the choice of adults singing the kids song has always grated with me - as indeed it did for the director and composer respectively:

From Wikipedia:

Williams later wrote “I’m really proud of the work and the only thing I’ve ever doubted is the choice of using adult voices. Perhaps, I should have given the kids a chance to sing the songs.” Parker also commented: “Watching the film after all these years, this is one aspect that I find the most bizarre. Adult voices coming out of these kids’ mouths? I had told Paul that I didn’t want squeaky kids’ voices and he interpreted this in his own way. Anyway, as the tapes arrived, scarcely weeks away from filming, we had no choice but to go along with it!”

I am going to try for my first fan edit trying to sync (where possible) the London stage cast recording. It’s probably going to be far harder than I think it may be but I will probably start by editing in a scene which only has a few people in it like ‘Tomorrow’ . Rough tryouts look promising. It’s going to have it’s own challenges though I’m sure - I’m going to have to edit some scenes to try and get the lip-synching correct and maybe even shrink or stretch some playback.

(I got inspired by reading about an edit of film The Phantom of the The Opera but which used the London stage cast recording for the songs rather than the film singing. Has anyone tried doing this with BM before? )

Is this a bit of an ambitious idea for a first fan edit?

I second this one. I wouldn’t mind the English dub if it weren’t for the child being obviously voiced by an adult.

The Sonic movie re-edited audio tracks have been partially done with the DX fanedit of Sonic Movie 1, while a Russian bootleg site has a fanedited audio track that adds game sound effects (but the same music). I want it uncut and with both game sound effects and some game music. The end credit songs can even be different with each film. Sonic 1 would have Up on the Green Hill (the 30th Anniversary song by Dreams Come True) while the sequel would have Sweet Dream by Dreams Come True (the ending for the Sonic 2 game originally used an instrumental version of this song).

Laputa’s dialogue in Japanese was mostly centred with a few stereo/surround effects here and there. Kiki, can have a similar fan edited Japanese track, combining the Japanese Dolby Stereo mix with the 1998 Dolby Digital 5.1 remixed rescore by Disney.

The Wind Rises could easily have a 3.1 stereo mix. The LFE could be carefully applied during certain scenes (I’m especially thinking the LFE would be great in the earthquake scene). But the centre channel could be the same mono mix from the Blu-ray, while the left and right channels would be taken from the CD soundtrack, with a few edits to match the film.
The soundtrack also has some songs that are not present in the final film, so maybe an extended score that restores these songs would be great too. But the centre channel should also have a mono downmix of the CD songs here too. This can be done for all versions of the film, but specifically English and Japanese is the goal.

Dune : The Uberlynch Version. I love the Spicediver Edit. It takes as much of the availabile footage and orders the scenes to match the structure of the book more and removes the worst changes. I watched it in Monochrome once as I heard a rumour that Lynch toyed with the idea as his first two hits had been in beautiful black and white. It’s really good. The monochrome hides some of the worst effects compositing and the grainier deleted scenes stand out less. One thing about Lynch films in general is they have a strange dreamlike stilted feel. Lynch says his films make 100% sense but he purposely removes scenes or exposition that might explain how it makes sense. That way the viewer is given room to piece the narrative together. However in Dune he makes the unique choice of giving everyone a voiceover even characters we only see a few times. I like it a lot but it does remove that Lynchian mystery. So what I’m proposing is essentially the Spicediver edit in monochrome (possibly with the exception of the eyes) but with all internal monologue and expositional introductions removed and maybe the Baron’s death trimmed to just a needle scratch. I’m curious to see how much the film holds up without the exposition.

A few that I’d love to make:

  • revised prequel trilogy of AOTC, ROTS and Kenobi
  • Jacob’s Ladder as a Silent Hill movie
  • Nightmare Before Christmas with the Nightmare Revisited music
  • streamlined Twin Peaks season 2

A long time ago, someone had created a modified version of the scene in which Palpatine and Vader are on the Star Destroyer at the end of the movie, and they observe the Death Star. Instead of the Death Star, the creator of this edited scene had added a panoramic view of Coruscant, so as not to create contradictions with the Original Trilogy, and also to avoid questions like: “If it took them 20 years to build the First Death Star, why did it take them 2 years to build the Second Death Star?” Hal had originally included this scene in his personal edit, but he later removed it and put the original scene back on. However, I’m considering inserting the edited scene in my personal edit of Revenge of the Sith. A few days ago, I asked Hal if he still owned that scene, but he told me he doesn’t have it anymore. So, I’d like to know if any of you still have it.
