Hello, I have been following this edit for some time. I would like to ask a question, though: is the change list completely accurate as to the current state of the edit or has it been altered?

Wow…Some really nice visuals here. Version I’m going for is an extended, but waiting for Adywan’s a base or what you have here for scenes might be benchmark. This one is really a standout for improvement we’ve been waiting for. I never thought removing Vader from the opening, but looking now it is repetitive to have them both. I think it helps the pacing better to start with the emperor. I think the best FX additions are the ones that are less noticeable or continuity fixes (Luke hologram stands out as an example). Anyway nice work!

I really don’t see how it improves the pacing. If anything I’d say it has a negative effect on it. You spend way too much time away from the main villains to the point where you start to wonder what’s going on with them. The way it is in the final movie is perfect. You’re shown what the villains are doing, and then after the first sequence with the heroes we are updated with the status of the villains.

Plus the Vader scene is great and helps give build up to the Emperor’s arrival.

Agreed. I love many of the ideas for this edit but I kept in the Vader arrival scene for this reason in my own edit of Rotj. I also kinda always loved since I was a kid how Vader’s arrival tends to hype up the importance of the Emperor arriving.

It’s been slightly altered. As soon as possible I’ll update the changelist 😉

Thank you! I myself consider this edit as something to watch while waiting for Adywan’s (which will be miles better than this one).

No problem. Personal taste is always arguable. I always thought that the Vader’s scene is useless, considering that all info can be stated in the opening crawl, and that all he does is saying that the Emperor is coming. I also disliked how Vader’s mask looks almost out of focus in close shots… it’s always been jarring to me. Finally, I believe the first act of the movie has some pacing issues: anything that can speed up things is a welcomed change to me. And remember that I’d like this edit to be watched as the sixth movie of the saga, not just the third movie of the OT: by this point, we already know who Palpatine is.
But again, personal taste is personal taste.

Short update: The edit is almost done.
My only problem is that I used to upload my edits on Google Drive, but this edit is a bit larger than the space that’s given with a free account.
Alternatives to upload my edit and maybe make it watchable without having to download it?

How large is the file?

If I understand correctly, you want people to stream it without downloading, correct?

I think other editors could probably give you better answers than me, but I know Icedrive allows for 10 GB of free storage. However, that does not seem like enough.

A popular site I see many editors use is Megaupload, which allows 20 GB free, but they impose many restrictions on free accounts.

Another possibility is archive.org, but I do not know anything about what they offer at all.

Thank you. The file is around 17 GB. I’m thinking about uploading on Mega, but the edit has 2 different audio tracks, so I don’t know how that could work…

If you have 2 different files then the free version of Mega will not work. You could only upload one. Unfortunately, the only realistic options would require some form of payment.

I personally like options from either Icedrive or Plcould that offer “lifetime” storage options. Several years ago I bought lifetime storage from Icedrive and it has served me well for all my files over the years as I keep adding to it (I have used 55% of 1 TB). I do not remember what I paid, but their prices (like everything else) has gone up.

If you believe you will need long term storage for a multitude of files, then it may be a good investment to pay some money now, but have large storage always available for the long term.

I do see Pcloud has a Black Friday sale for: 500 GB for $139; 2 TB for $279; 10 TB for $890.

These lifetime deals can save you a lot of money versus paying constantly for a subscription. It definitely has saved me money. Basically, use this method if you will actually use the storage space and will plan to use it for the long term. The investment is worth it. I know money can be tight now for lots of people unfortunately.

You may or may not be comfortable with soliciting donations, but considering you clearly forth lots of effort into the edit, some people would probably chip in and help you get the storage space if it means they get to enjoy your edit. However, I think that may be dangerously close to directly charging for your work. I do see others accept donations for materials and equipment so I think it should be okay for cloud storage.

Honestly buying extra space on google drive isn’t that big of a deal, to me at least. It’s only $2 a month for 100 GB. I think it’s kinda inevitable for any fan-editor who uses it as their main.

Though I probably shouldn’t assume your financial situation.

Thank you all.
At current moment, I’m not in the condition to spend any amount of money. I’m finishing my internship next week, so I’ll be “jobless” again 😦
At the same time, I’m not going to ask for any donations, at least not for the fanediting projects.

I’ll see what I can do.
Thanks again.

Nuntio Vobis Gaudium Magnum, the edit is finally released.
Because of storage limitations, I had to split it into rar. parts, but everything should be ok.
