Hi

I had an idea - i am not a fan of videogames, but i’ve watched my brother playing games like THE CLONE WARS asnd BOUNTY HUNTER on his PS2.

Do you think it would be possible to cut together a film out of these games?

Kind of like Red vs. Blue? I don't think a full movie would hold peoples interest, but a short film might be cool. Or maybe a Red vs. Blue Spoof. or maybe a re-creation of the cut scenes from the movies. Not to be confused with video game cut scenes. They shouldn't call video game scenes 'cut scenes'. That's too confusing.

My first inclination would be to say, "What a pain in the ass that would be," but if this site has taught me anything, it's that whatever you dream up is possible.

KOTOR would be the best choice. The cinematics are fairly detailed. The trick would be to take one quest and make it the central story. I don't think anyone would be interested in the court proceedings of the Kolto fish men - but everyone would be interested in the destruction of the Jedi Temple on Dantooine.

For action seqeunces, play through the game recording the quests which fit into the storyline which DOESN"T include opening every single damn box...and you might be on to something.

As far as something similar to RvB - those cats found a 'glitch' in Halo's code which made it possible to exploit the character's movements so they could control things to a large degree...

Could someone hire john williams to score it? or would it use tracks from all the other films instead?

I think he means like capturing his bro playing, take the best bits and cutscenes and edit it together.

I thought he might have meant that, but...sorry, who the hell would want to watch that?

Well, the bounty hunter story is quite cool, I think it would be basicly for the cut scenes, the game play would just make them link and make sence.

Reminds me of what happened with Xenosaga: Episode I and it worked quite well. Too bad the same wasn't done for Episode II.

To see what people are creating using video game engines, check out http://www.machinima.com/.

There are some SW machinima out there, there was a dancing Boba Fett video, using the SW Galaxies world. It was a music video in the end, but it showed it could be done, and i would guess it's better then the Yoda DVD vid.

The possibilities are there. Personally i'd love to see any of the video games just captured from beginning to end, i don't have the time or skillz to play them, so watching at double speed should in theory be entertaining. The game world gives you the controls to be a director, figure out an interestng take/subject and i'm sure people will watch.

Thanks for that link, none. The stormtrooper movies on that site are hilarious!

some of the cutscenes from the newer games are astonishing, Kotor 1 and Kotor II, Battlefront II and revenge of the sith. Republic commando has some cool stuff, so does bounty hunter.
