Star Wars Rebels Recut - A Fanedit TV Series — Page 4

Unless this is a limitation of the musical score, I feel like the text moves a bit too quickly. Also I agree that the rebel music when the logo pops out is a big ear sore. It’s something I’ve always hated about the show, which I overall really like.

it’s an improvement but I still think you need to remove the ear sore that is the rebels music when the logo pops out, much like Eddie did with his series.
How about trying to use the same music as he did and see do it works? I like how he times the epic music perfectly for when the clone wars logo pops and it gives me chills

I think using different music here from Eddie is the right choice for this edit as I don’t want to copy his work. I feel if I use that music I’ll turn from inspiration from Eddie to a copy of Eddie, you know?

I agree with the start text but it is a limitation of the music I’m using here… so maybe I need to find a different piece. Because of the length I kept in the original logo with score. So maybe while I search (open to options and suggestions) I’ll play around with music that covers the logo aswell!

I’m rendering another version hahaha! I think this one is much better and addresses the concerns raised previously. (I’ll just release the episode again.) Thank you all for your feedback! You’re all helping me become a much better faneditor! 😄

Goob, I’d advise, have a listen through the Rebels soundtrack. There’ll be versions of the core songs, some of which will have nice punctual bursts where you can flip to the logo and/or episode name. Same to find a suitable fade-to-end credits track. Then, fit the timings of intro text/end credits to that, and it’ll feel slick.

Good suggestions EddieDean and Yoshif8tures! I’m currently uploading my newest attempt. I’d love to hear more thoughts. (I want to get the opening and credits right before I continue! hahaha) Thank everyone again for your input! 😄

I now have a format I’m very happy with. I don’t think I’ll modify it further from here! I’ve got an intro I’m much happier with as well as a credits I’m much happier with! Thank you all for your input it’s been amazing! 😄 I’ll be starting to implement my V3 edits across the board! One episode at a time! 😄

Yeah! New intro and new credits 😃 they’re just attached to episodes 1 and 2 of season 1 at this stage (not seperate)

Looks good, but one small quibble, the change of music between your intro and the episode is a bit abrupt, I think that could be fixed if you put the episode title at beginning rather than the end, I think that would work best.

I asked an editing friend and he also said you need to smooth out the music transitions so it fades out better.

Is this on episode 1, 2 or both? 😃

just the first one it seems

I’ll have another look! I did have a file corruption so remade the intro quite quickly 😂 so I’ll go back with fresh eyes and smooth it out. Thanks so much for all your help Yoshif8tures! This edit wouldn’t be anywhere near as good without your input and feedback! 😄

Glad to help. I cannot speak for your actual editing of the episodes yes since I haven’t watched them yet.
I do still think it would work better if you put the episode title at the beginning to smooth out the audio

V3 for season 1 are complete! (at least until someone finds any errors or until further feedback!) I’m moving onto finally polishing up season 2 with some V3s! 😄

I grew up with the OT. I was roughly six years old when I saw Empire in theatres. My friends and I saw Jedi several times the summer it opened, any time us farm kids could get a parent to gather us up from our farms and drive us into the city to one of the theatres showing it. It took a long time for me to appreciate these films, especially Empire, which I have come to believe is one of the greatest fantasy epics ever to hit the screen. Needless to say, disappointment has come to dominate my feelings regarding the latest Star Wars offerings on the big and small screen. I don’t think I’ll even bother to watch another disney SW movie again. Before Andor, I was certain I’d never care about another TV series, but the quality of this show has renewed my interest. Now I’m thinking I’d like to go back and watch Rebels. I was hoping to come across a fan edit that sharpened the story and trimmed a lot of the childish nonsense. Anyone who has seen a fan edit, or more than one, of the Rebels series and would be willing to recommend one to me, please let me know which I should check out.

It depends on what you’re looking for Hans-olo! I wouldn’t go into star wars Rebels expecting Andor levels of quality! Rebels still is a much lighter and kid friendly story (even when you take out a lot of the more childish elements) but if you ask me it still has a star wars feel to its core. If you’d like to experience most of the show at its best I’d recommend my edit (but that doesn’t mean it’s the best edit or the most enjoyable, just that I have used the most content so far to my knowledge hahaha). I know there are a lot of movie style edits out there which are much shorter then what I’ve done that give you the core story (which is Rebels strength in my opinion).

Hi! May I get a link please?

I always get worried about disrupting continuity. I seem to get blamed for that a lot.

I have went through season 1 of your edit. This work was very well done. Unlike Clone Wars, I have only watched a few episodes of Rebels in the past, which makes most of the material new to me.

Season 1 was very entertaining and well done. This was a show meant for children and came across as adult friendly 99% of the time. I never felt like I was watching any filler, and the character development clearly was maintained thus far.

I am not sure if musical score was added, but I liked how it was incorporated whether by the editor or original show creators.

The only minuscule “issue” I found was that there were a few moments where there were some clear choppy cuts. I could tell that something was obviously cut, but I do not really consider this that much of an issue. The 3 or 4 choppy moments I noticed lasted less than a second and I would much rather see a split second of choppiness as opposed to a bad scene and/or bad dialogue.

When it comes to this show, I feel that both this show (and Clone Wars) are better viewed in episodic versus the movie format. It works much better. If somebody wants to watch this show again or for the first time, this is the edit to go with that sticks to a solid story without the fluff.

There’s a bad transition in s01e02 where you cut right as Sabine was talking

I know the one you’re talking about! The dialogue there was pretty bad and unnecessary and I needed a time jump… So I’m still undecided what to do. If I have a clean cut the story will suddenly jump forward but if I keep the wipe it helps signify time passing but you can tell Sabine was still talking…

At this stage I’ve learned towards the wipe as I’ve seen rebels do the same thing (wipe cut mid conversation)

I’ll have another revisit to the episode though. See if I can’t clean it up some more!
