I have started working on caption files for each of the EE versions. For those that have my edits, you can download these SRT files to add captions to your movies. This first one, Prisoner of Azkaban, is complete. If you are interested, send me a PM for the link.

I appreciate your efforts of doing this marvelous and overwhelming job of providing the extended versions of all Harry Potter movies.
I would love to watch all this edited versions of your
Please provide me the link.
Thanks

I’m so excited to see your updated versions! I also had no idea you did an extended Deathly Hallows two-in-one or the FB movies. This is gonna be a treat. I sent an email and I’ll try not to refresh every 10 seconds lol

I noticed that on the Peacock streaming service (U.S.) some of the later Harry Potter films actually have some deleted scenes reinserted into them. The first two are the normal extended editions I think, but DHp1 for example actually has the Petunia Dursley scene in it. I think their timing of where that scene is placed is slightly different than yours, which doesn’t matter but I just thought it was neat that its officially into the movie now in some capacity.

Not necessarily ‘official’. As we’ve come to see over the years, whoever licenses broadcast (or streaming) rights can cut in (or out) any footage they want.
Some of the ABC edits of the Potter movies were pretty amateur. It was like an intern did them.

That’s not just true for HP movies. Unless there is a home video release or press release with the studio talking it up, just assume the people showing it have an unapproved edit.

The only really good thing about this is they might get some deleted content we’ve never seen before.

Of course you can usually find scripts if you want to know the official locations of those scenes. My edit of Half-Blood Prince had some cropping, chopping and dicing trying to get one deleted scene back where it was intended in the script.

I’m just waiting on Warner Bros. Discovery to resume the official HP extended editions. One that I’d really like to see is their own two-in-one cut of Deathly Hallows that includes both released and previously unseen footage.

Some of the scenes I want to see in particular are:
• Lupin asking Harry to be Teddy’s godfather
• Extended ‘Exodus’ montage that was featured in the trailers
• Additional footage of Scabior, which producer David Heyman said “was like watching Saw”
• In general, more Death Eather and battle footage
• Draco’s redemption, which everyone seems to be going crazy over 🙄
• Alternate death scene for Voldemort (Now this is a must! 😁)

And many, many more. There is so much footage that I can’t bring myself to list every single scene right now, but more footage is always a plus. 😎

🙃

It’s not a matter of ‘when’, it’s a matter of ‘if’.

Preferably, Blu-ray. Make an “ultimate collector’s edition” out of it.

Not at all. Some of those scenes were alternate takes that weren’t consistent with the source. Some were just test images that were rejected by the director before the effects were even finished. Heck, some of the scenes I haven’t even heard they ever filmed.

Loving them so far! I’m noticing an odd reverb throughout much (but not all) of PoA. I’m not sure if it is in the others. Has anyone else noticed this? Or am I doing something wrong with my media player?

I mentioned this in July. Oddly, that’s the original tracks. It’s just something most people never noticed before.

I’m not too sure about that. I just rewatched recently and there was no such reverb.
For reference, here is the Boggart scene. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PWKFyhJ2h4
In the edit, there is a loud reverb effect that echoes waaay more than the natural echo in this scene, including the score.

EDIT: Unless you’re saying that is in the original V1 fan edit?

When I ripped the original audio, non-edited, it has the reverb. One thing to keep in mind is that the audio on the edit is a 5.1 mix. The YouTube video likely does not have 5.1 audio on it.

AFAIK, YouTube uploaders can’t have more than 2-channels. 5.1 is only available for YouTube’s own movies.

They should just enable 5.1 for uploads. That way, when I eventually start posting my own preview clips, you’ll be able to get more out of them.

Did you AI upscale the deleted scenes?

I did for the Dudley Redemption scene and the bridge scene in DH2. It allowed me to zoom in more to cut out some of the green screen area while still keeping the main part of the shot centered. Those are the only scenes that I upscaled.

How do I get rid of that ghastly reverb then? Is there a setting I can choose? My system is only 2.1

Have you tried the Stereo audio track? There are 3 audio tracks in the video file, 2 are 5.1, 1 is stereo.

Where did you get 5.1 audio of the deleted scenes?

I had to artificially create a 5.1 environment in Final Cut Pro. I would start with the 2.0 audio and create a basic surround sound environment. I could adjust the levels coming from each speaker as well as adjust over time if needed. I was impressed with how the end result came out.
