I knew the inflammatory title would grab your attention.

So maybe not ALL of Trek is gay, but apparently Sulu is.

That rustling sound you hear isn't autumn leaves in the wind, it's Trekkies around the world shuddering.

And to clear the air, while not a bona-fide Trekkie, I absolutely love Kirk's and Picard's Trek. So don't read any real Trek bashing into my post. Just some ... ummm ... fluffy news for your Friday.

Heck, maybe once I won't be mean to Trekkies and will fraternize with them by saying:

Vader turned out to be a whiny bitch.

It was a big surprise for the fans, too... after those many years...
I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...

Hmmm, for some reason this doesn't surpisme that much. There was always something about Takei; if one of the original cast was gay and I had to guess who I would have said him.

I don't think George Takei's sexual orientation was a mystery to anybody who was paying attention.

P.S. - It's also completely irrelevant. Sulu still kicked all kinds of ass, especially evil Sulu from Mirror, Mirror with that badass scar on his face.

I'm a full-on Trek fan, by the way. If you presented me with the option of watching any Star Wars movie or Wrath of Khan, I'd choose Khan every time.

Why does everyone love Wrath of Khan so much? Granted it was a perfectly fine movie in it's own right..

But come on, it's not anywhere near the caliber of Star Wars or ESB. It's great for what it is, but I honestly don't see what the fuss was about. First Contact is better, though I might be biased since I'm more familiar with TNG.

He also played Warlord Shank on Space Cases. I'm not a Star Trek fan, but he was good on that show. Not having seen him as Sulu, I wouldn't have assumed he was gay, because he was pretty threatening (well, as threatening as you can get on Nickelodeon) on Space Cases.

There is no lingerie in space…

I'll concede that the overall acting and storytelling of TNG is superior, but I think the charm of TOS is unbeatable. The bond between Kirk, Bones, and Spock isn't ever matched in TNG.

And yes, Wrath of Khan > all.

I remember reading that George Takei was sexually neutral, and now he addmits to be gay. Nothing wrong with that, by the way. I just hope he dosen't follow Mishima's steps!

I don't think Takei will pull a Mishima, and chalk me up for the following:
1. Khan is the best Trek movie, hands down.
2. Comparing Empire to Khan is comparing apples to oranges.
3. I'm not terribly surprised to find out Takei is gay. I have very good gaydar.
4. Old gay people don't scare me; why should they?

I was just kidding and exagerating. I have seen only 3 star trek movies, the first one, khan, and the fourth one. While the three are highly better than TPM and AOTC, I am not a Star Trek fan at all, and in fact do not like the series. I do prefer watching the first Star Trek movie than any of the prequels, but not based on Star Wars or Stra Trek issues, but on better movie versus worse movie thing.

I do tend to have a ratio of 10% of dumb posts though, which is not enough to be called a troll, but enough to be annoying. So I'll probably be the king of "dumbest posts in thread".

Now THAT I wasn't kidding about. 2001 is probably my favorite movie of all, and Kubrick's film IS better than any of George's, you gota tive in to that...

I actually agree with this. ESB is a Star Wars masterpiece, but 2001 is a masterpiece--period.

2001 has alot of great moments, but for today's audiances, it could be considered too slow. I persoanally liked it although I didn't understand how the last sequence was supposed to be so much like an LSD trip as I've had it described to me. By all counts, the story was new for it's time at least to non-sci-fi fans.

ESB has its moments as well but it wasn't really on par with 2001. That's not sying it wasn't a good story, it just didn't hit it like 2001 did. This from a Christian who doesn't believe in evolution which is featured promonetly in 2001... but we don't need to get into that.
