Usually I could simply copy the temporary .mov file from the Internet cache to save a trailer, but not in this case... darn.
I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...

This is the only time I have not been able to steal a trailer. This sucks. You'd think filmhouses would make trailers readily available for download. They're not losing money from them as they would if it was an entire movie. In fact, it's just free advertising for them. Because you save it and show it to friends offline. Why do they have to go through this intricate embedding of the file? Bat rastards.

Because they can.

The RIAA and the MPAA are going to be the downfalls of music and movies, respectively. Neither of them think logically.

Have you heard the RIAA an Downhill Battle thing? They accused them for illegal acquisition of people's names etc. and claim RIAA should give back the money taken away. I haven't read about it, my friend just dropped me a line...

And I agree about the trailer policy - why to close the way of free propagation of their own promotional campaign? This could save them some bandwidth etc.

Oh well... too complicated thing for us, mere commoners... the big fish up there know better... like the publisher of that flight sim I play, which does not want to release new low-cost add-ons for the game that could be used to milk the fans and squeeze the last buck out of the game engine that is readily available... no, they prefer high-cost investments only, even if it means risk.

I had to bring this thread back to life because I just saw a trailer on TV today for it (the film was pushed back like four months) and it looks like they dropped the sepia tone and have colorized it. It's an oversaturated colorization but it's colorized all the same. Man, I was looking forward to the sepia tone version of the film. Am I crazy? Does anyone else remember the old trailer? I'm ticked.

Maybe it's just the TV version of the trailer that's buggered. I've seen the new trailer numerous times @ the theatre and it looks the same as the old one.

Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

My manager @ Cineplex got into a press screening this week, and said it's really good; in the same action/adventure vein as the Mummy movies and Van Helsing, but much better. I can't wait!

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Do you mean slagged, HotRod? If so, critics always hate this kind of movie and only begrudgingly acknowledge any worth later on (see Owen Glieberman's review of Van Helsing for Entertainment Weekly for proof of this).

I am so there it's not even funny. Saw the TV trailer again today, and, yet again, it was colorized. I think they're misrepresenting the movie by doing that if, in fact, the movie is still sepiatoned. You're gonna have a lot of pissed off moviegoers.

I don't think colorized or sepiatoned are accurate descriptions of the effect the filmmakers are attempting here. The best term I can think of is desaturated: see the opening of Saving Private Ryan or the dream sequence of Fiddler on the Roof for good examples of this type of effect.

Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Finally got around to seeing this (took the kids tonight) and... it's good. It's not the best movie I've seen this year, but it is definitely one of the most amazing ones to look at this year. Kerry Conran and his team have so completely nailed the look and feel of a 30s style serial, and it gives you that giddy feeling you got when watching Raiders of the Lost Ark for the first time. To those who were concerned that this would look colourised, I can tell you that the overall effect is more of old-fashioned colour tinting done by hand; there seems to be a real artistry to how the colour was done rather than the guesswork that dominates the colourisation process.

On the down side, Gwyneth seems slightly miscast. In a role that is supposed to be brassy and gutsy, she often comes off as whiny, but this is a small quibble in an otherwise solid film. ***1/2 out of *****

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

I very much enjoyed Sky Captain and the World of Tomarrow. It isn't great but it is enjoyable. It doesn't make any sense but it is visually marvalous and has a great sense of adventure. Its enjoyment is similar to that of Van Helsing. Can't wait for the DVD.

It is actually a pretty good movie. Not much for story, but the action and comedy are there. It is like Starwars only less revolutionary.

It has a really great ending, too.
