I, too, decided to watch through Book 5 first, since the Boba content was the worst and needed the most work.

Figured I’d share a few things I wrote down while watching:

Thank you for the detailed notes, WitchDR! I am currently working on trying out some new plot points for Books 1/2 but will get back to this post again afterwards.

Eddie, lots of great ideas and ponderings that I will get back to thinking through and responding to soon. I do want to first make sure that this initial idea works out well for Book 1, but unifying the themes in later movies like you’re talking about does make sense and I will do a full analysis of everything you wrote later on.

I just want to say that I’ve been very impressed so far with what you’ve done with this series.
One thing that strikes me as odd though is that at the end of book 2, he goes back to the sarlaac to try to find his armour and ends up on obliterating it.
Not only does this seem silly but over the top, not to mention he should recall he had the armour when he came out?
Anyway, I’m enjoying it a lot so far and it’s excellent.

Thanks, glad you’re enjoying it. I’ve seen a couple people mention they don’t like the sarlacc scene as a whole, but I haven’t personally been persuaded yet on it being out of character for Boba. I don’t think Boba has any memory of the first few minutes/hours outside the pit. He can’t recall getting stripped of the armor so I don’t think it’s out of the question that he would go and look there first. And killing the sarlacc is a classic Mandalorian/Bounty Hunter move I feel. The beast beat him, so he wants revenge and to prove that he is superior. What specifically makes it seem “silly”? I am usually hugely critical of “silliness” in Star Wars but I didn’t feel too bad about the sarlacc sequence initially. Is it great/well directed? No. But is it entirely out of character/disruptive? I haven’t been persuaded of that yet.

As far as progress on Book 1 re-work: Been extra busy and haven’t had as much time to put into it, but I’ve worked through the whole prison break episode now and have it functioning properly in the new story order. Found a good solution for the droid hunter death.

Unfortunately, there aren’t many additional instances available of showing Din thinking about Grogu during this time as it is a very fast paced episode and due to the timeline of armor modifications like Eddie mentions, there are some very real restrictions on which scenes can be reasonably moved around between seasons. I am working on fitting in one more instance of Din looking at the “ball” on his ship as he flies back to Nevarro after the job, and have just begun work on the carrier-flashback sequence that will now change his destiny forever. I really want to nail that scene so it might take a bit to get that working right with the soundtrack and flashbacks.
