However, I didn't like when they made him into that blue electricity thing around '97. That was just... stupid-looking. How did they explain getting him out of that transformation? Or did they just reboot the continuity?


I have that comic...never read it...I just bought it cause the glow in the dark cover was cool my initial thought on the idea though was that it was such a radical change and i didnt really like it.


Well, the electric blue look from 1997 was another one of those let's-remind-the-world-Superman's-still-alive-with-a-big-time-publicity-stunt things. I think the outline was that Superman's classic powers were not functioning properly, he underwent some experiment to correct them and it turned him into electro-Superman. I actually saw a fan art manipulation once of Nicolas Cage as the electric blue Superman, and it was sort of scary.

I'll bet some would say the long hair linked Superman to the biblical strong man Samson (who also had great strength, courtesy of his long hair).
