Please, may I inquire:
I do get the impression, editors are proud to hit some specific time markers, to get the edit fast paced and such things. I wonder, why this is not more of a secondary thing, and in the forefront it is about enjoyment and raising the overall quality (cutting stupid jokes, conversations, inconsistent character development etc.) … I mean, get the watching done in a time as short as possible it not the goal of consuming media unless the medium is a chore, so rather focus on getting rid of the choriness than of time, at least that is what I think …

For example (going into three of the subplots), the Dwarven parts feel quite dwarvish in my opinion, they appear truer to the books than all this pseudopolitical bickering and unnecessary subplots in Numenor, and the southland plot is horrible, people behaving inconsistent, stupid, un-Tolkienish and pseudo-modern … hence would it not be most enjoyable to cut down on the latter two, only transfering the essentials, but keeping most of the dwarven stuff, even if the movie is a little longer?
