With reference to Luke and the treadwell droid and Luke peering up at the sky. This scene as a whole sequence is not needed. The following deleted scene at tosche station explains he saw firing in the sky. We as the audience experienced this in the opening shots. We know Luke is telling the truth even though his friends do not believe him.
In film making it is often best rather than force something that does not work at all and cram it in, perhaps ruining the way it works already it is much better to re-purpose material to create something else from it.
There is a detail that you have missed in that clip where treadwell extends his welding arm to repair the moisture vaporater. This is animation based effect where the extended arm is paused to composite the welding effect on the droids arm.
So although the Tosche stations scenes work in there own right without this scene attached it would be better to use this scene partially.
After the stormtroopers in the desert “look sir droids” it could be better to create a bridge by cutting to treadwell here reparing the vaporator without Luke at all Then after he finishes his repairs he looks around and spots the sandcrawler approaching in the distance towards the lars homestead. Using this scene in this way would connect the Farm to where the Sandcrawler is approaching.
And that is probably how I would use that scene simply to create a bit of location awareness and set the scene that is to follow.
