I think stalling Kenobi for now is the right choice, especially if you take into consideration that there will be some amazing vfx shots released at the end of the year (supposedly).

Who is releasing those?

Just finished reading through your edits, really excited to give this a view. Like many, I wasn’t really enjoying what they did to Boba Fett so I’m excited to see how this flows - sounds great!

Not sure if you want us to send you a PM or just ask for a link here. Thanks for all the great work you’ve done!

Hey Smudger, do you plan on doing a Obi Wan Kenobi edit (The Smudger Cut)?

I was thinking about that, too - and remembered reading some exclusive theaters were showing all 6 episodes in a complete non-stop movie format, so I was curious how they were shown to keep the audience engaged that long…as there was no report anything was edited.

SO… I examined all 6 ObiWan episodes - and removed the episode 2-6 recaps, beginning titles, end credits, etc. When I cleanly combined each episode back to back, I interestingly discovered the main footage of all 6 episodes totaled ONLY 231 minutes…easily watchable as a non-stop movie.

NOTE this includes the flashback presentation in the beginning of Episode 1 that includes footage from the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy as I wanted to include that, too!..

so I don’t think a movie edit is necessary for ObiWan…try it and see -

“easily watchable as a non-stop movie”

You think 3.85 hours is “easily watchable as a non-stop movie”? Seriously? Wow.

Hey could I get a link to your edits?

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

I wouldn’t call that easily watchable 😉

Watched the first half and enjoyed it greatly. I’m impressed how integrated TBOBF feels so far into the Mandalorian series. All of these have felt like real Star Wars movies.

My stance on revising fan edits.

Just finished watching this through and liked it a lot more than the series itself. The shuffling of all the Mando stuff really does make it feel like a proper Mando series 3, albeit with more Fett this time around - but the new framing makes it feel like he’s guesting in Mando’s show, not the other way around.

I liked the Fett Tusken stuff the best of that series originally but wholeheartedly agree it just isn’t needed here. There’s just enough remaining for everything to make sense. And I didn’t miss any of the other cut elements either.

The Luke Grogu stuff feels like a perfect coda and lead into what comes next too.

Thanks for the feedback. It’s quite shocking really that you can turn a Boba Fett series into a Mando film! Poor Boba got shafted.

yes - I had no problem watching Zak Snyder’s Justice League and in the theater - Grindhouse
and those were longer past 4 hours.

Each to his own and you can use the pause button LOL

Hi, I have them yet, cannot remember where I downloaded the bluray covers for ep1 and ep2 - outer front and back and inner with the chapters listed. I hoping to find this new ep3 set of covers - doe sanyone have a link or I guess it;s possible they do not exist yet -

thanks!

PS Smudger - I love your episode 3 project results. Downloaded the Bluray 37GB version - it;s awesome.
I think you made some great choices with what you were working with and your concept to maintain the continuity with YOUR SET having ep1 and ep2 already was well thought out!

The series Book of Boba Fett clearly changed it’s direction mid-way through the season and started focusing on continuing the Mando and the Grogu story, so in a way in my opinion this Book Of Boba Fett title could have been used as a subtitle for Mando Season 3. But I think that excited people making Boba Fett the focus, so I get their decisions. Just gonna be interesting when the next Mando season comes out…season 3, 4, another title completely-who cares!

Your edits, rearranging items, and conclusion you presented REALLY works! This particular season really tested you and you did a great job. So happy you did this for not only yourself, but shared it with so many people. Sometimes I just don;t want to re-watch the whole series f episodes…your project makes it enjoyable.

Thank you very much for this!

We hadn’t seen the original, so this was all new content for me.

You must have done a great job, because I couldn’t imagine watching a longer version of this show.

It felt good and refreshing changing between the different characters (e.g. Boba and Mando), not sure if that was your design.

I’m not an editor, but as a viewer even this felt like it could have been 1 hour shorter. Many individual scenes just felt like they dragged a touch too long.

It’s easiest to talk about with the Luke scenes, because it felt like the movie was finally drawing to a close, and then was pleasantly surprised by the Luke bit, but then it just kept going and going.

Cheers
