I watched this edit, and have to say that I enjoyed it; the exclusion of the slave storyline for Anakin was an interesting editing choice that I’ve not seen done before.
Also, the VFX work that you did looks fantastic! The lights you added to the exterior planet shots of Tatooine and Naboo look like they were always meant to be there haha! Other VFX work such as the removal of the power cable going to the Queen’s gown, as well as removing Threepio entirely all look fantastic!

Has anybody tried completing the deleted scene of Maul jumping onto the ship and getting knocked off during the desert duel?

Thanks for the reviews!

That extended fight on the ramp is even lower quality than dvd BTS footage despite being on Bluray extras. It’s so raw that it’s just not usable.

These edits look great. Could I have a link?

I was looking for the deleted scene of Duel of Fates when I found my way here.
Only to find that you guys have integrated all those deleted scenes into the actual movie!

Can you send me a link, please?

I sent you a PM, if you like to check out my edit. It only has shots of BTS footage of the fight that I added effects to. If you are after more shots of the fight in reactor room and other deleted scenes, then The Phantom Menace - Expanded Edition by Bobson Dugnutt might be for you. It has all the deleted scenes added to the movie.

For me my dream improved edition keeps the midiclorians because I was never bothered by that fixes the other issues updates the cgi to modern standards and ties it in better with the clone wars and updates the lightsabers best as can be to sequel trilogy standards.

A version with just the FX enhancements without cutting anything would be fantastic. Loving the redone lightsabers and fixed goofs, but I have some pretty mixed feelings on the changes made to the story.

I’d think I’d still cut back on the jar jar antics in episode 1 and the boring parts that don’t add anything to the plot and any of the cringe moments etc. same goes for episode 2 and 3 to make them better films. unlike everyone else I’d keep midichlorians I was never bothered by them or the prophecy yes the space holy figure thing is weird but Jedi are kind of holy figures in the first place so them being monks and all these things kinda adds up. though them treat him like garbage is odd though so no wonder the Sith wiped them out.

I agree with both of you. At this point, I’m on the hunt for mostly additive editions of everything except the sequels. Although something like Jar Jar stepping in shit is definitely just cringe and needs to go.

Yeah cringe free continuity sense making modern cgi including all the cgi characters would be awesome too bad pigs would have to fly before that awesome dream would ever happen. 😦

I’d also be interested in a watch.

I saw it a few months ago and it’s pretty great. The whole movie looks gorgeous with the added grain and color correction. I think you found the right balance with the cuts, it doesn’t feel rushed and it never gets tiresome. My only small objections is that the podrace sequence is a tad too long (and I’m not a fan of the announcer) and maybe you could have remove a couple more Sidious scenes, to add to the mystery. Overall, it’s probably my favourite TPM edit, maybe tied with shadow of the sith.

Thank you for the high praise Leovfz!

And PM sent to Roo Eee.

Saw it recently and it was one of the better edits, for sure. Narratively, I think I’m still fondest of Cloak of Deception, but there were a number of changes that made perfect sense for me, such as the first action scene. Removing the remarks to slavery was an interesting choice and the reasons for doing so are legit, but I thought it removed some of the weight in Anakin’s mother’s decision to let him go, so I guess I don’t exactly know how I feel about it. The visual changes are remarkable, as well, and many of the corrections were so subtle they didn’t really detract from the movie. All in all, it’s a fantastic job. Thanks for sharing this, Dazman.

Here is my review for my friend Dazman’s edit of Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace. I actually really enjoyed this
new edit as I have seen it 74 times since acquiring it last year and I have several close friends who have seen it too.

I especially enjoyed the extended Duel of the Fates stuff, I think it adds much more weight to the stakes of the duel of the fates as Lucas once put it the outcome of the duel of the fates decides Anakin Skywalker’s future. Also I loved how you made it seem like Darth Sidious and Palpatine were two different people like this edit feels like the true version of Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace that we all should’ve gotten in 1999 but didn’t. I was 9 when Phantom Menace came out but I didn’t actually see it until like the last week it was able to be shown at my theater. Thank you Dazman for this edit and I can’t wait to see what other stuff you add to Episode’s 2 and 3.

I understand that it takes some weight off the separation but it’s still about mother letting her small child go, although not perfect. And for me losing the badly written slave plot is better than the plot hole between EP1 and Ep2 of Jedi not doing diddly squat to relocate her from slavery. 😄
