Is it me, or it seems that america is going for an unilateral, all-powerful empire, dominated by the republicans and the Bush family?

I don't think they'd try to go for a White House trifecta. There's simply got to be someone else.

If there is, I have no idea who it would be. I'd want McCain, but I don't know if he'd go for it or not.

McCain would be good. Nice, centrist Republican.

A lot of the speculation I've heard is that Rudy Guliani or McCain would be possible.

Giuliani would be the first Italian-american president, right? Kinda like having Tony Soprano in the White House...JK.

I've heard Giuliani might be considered for a cabinet position with Bush. President? No. He'd get a sympathy vote and that's about it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last time the same party controlled everything the way it does now, we had Carter--a democrat--in the white house.
And we all know how that turned out.

I'm just glad US law will keep Schwartzeneggar out of there. I worry if he ran, he'd win.

What? He won a nobel prize, is that what you mean?

I envy you, Americans. Your geopolitical position - a remote continent, borders with Canada & Mexico only (rather non-hostile countries) - gives you freedom of making all those petty disputes, Reps vs Dems etc., while the enemies are far away. Besides, even the most liberal democrat is not yet a communist, nor are the most stalwart rebublicans a neo-nazi. So it's a win-win situation, even your bad unemployement rate is twice as good as in Europe.

When we lost ourselves in internal quarrels throught the history, our enemies (read: neighboring states) always ganged up on us. Don't let this happen to you...
I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...

How about double-digit inflation (from 6.8% in 1977 to 12.4% in 1980). The Iran hostage situation/botched rescue attempt (which ended the night of the Reagan's inauguration). High unemployment, despite Carter's attempts to fix it by simply creating government jobs.
Carter Administration, 1977-1981

He did far more good out of office than he did in office...but then that's like saying a pea is larger than a piece of corn.

Just remember, at the DNC, he shared his presidential box with Mr. Michael "Commie Capitalist" Moore.

Um. Star, I think that was a bad analogy.

Jimmy Carter is not a bad man--he was a bad president. Besides driving up inflation, he also was very naive when it came to foreign affairs--and he also lost our ally in Iran, The Shah.

And winning a Nobel prize doesn't really say much.
Did not Mikhail Gorbachev also win one?

Well, I wouldn't know, as I only know Carter for his work after he left the white house, I am not familiar with his administration. Gorbachev did deserve the Nobel prize, yes.

A Nobel prize dosen't really say much?! And what does, a Grammy? So I guess Eminem gave the world a better contribution than, let's say, professor John Nash. I mean, he had all those newspapers laying around his home, and he did all those... uh, math things, and... gave the oportunity for Russel Crowe to get an Oscar, and... uh... Well I suppose you're right.
