Right now I'm spending about $70/month going through my store. If I can get it to $60 or below that, I'll have to seriously consider it, as much as I hate to take the business away from my shop.

TFAW is reasonable, they even offer a discount if you preorder items. Thats how I get my comics(though I only really follow two or three lines)

TFAW?

BTW: Finally read Infinite Crisis #1.

SPOILERS

I thought the final "discussion" between Supers, Bats, and Wonder Woman was done quite well, although I'm still a little in the air about why she was going to kill Mongul.

The ending was awesome, but also frustrating. I haven't read Crisis on Infinite Earths in MANY years, and will now have to pick up the TPB just to catch up on it again. Should blow the whole weekend for me now! GRRRRRR....

She was going to kill Mongul because that was the best way to guarantee he stayed down, basically. Wonder Woman thinks Bats and Supes are too soft on criminals, always not killing them unless there's no choice. She seems to think they should just leave the villains dead and let them suffer the consequences in the afterlife.

I remember reading that series. It was really cool.

What was the name of the series where Thanatos(sp?) got the Glove of Power(?) and the five stones which made him ultra powerful? THAT was a fun read as well.

I always wondered, though: why didn't Wolverine cut off his arm, instead of stabbing him in the heart? Wouldn't cutting the glove off have taken away his powers?

<span class=“Italics”>MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.

I'm just getting into Marvel now. Was always a DC person while I was growing up (from about 86-92), then I got away from collecting. I think Marvel has some interesting characters to say the least. I just wish they'd make their "Essentials" series in color or do more CDROM releases of their archives so I can catch up.

Off Topic: Nice quote there in your sig, Sage.

Anyways, I agree. I know releasing Essentials without color keeps the price down, but it takes so much out of the experience. I've been tempted to color them myself, sometimes. Yeesh. That would take forever.

Anyways, I'm not really a huge fan of anything Marvel except Spiderman, so I normally stick with DC.

A monumental undertaking, to say the least. That's why I'm hoping they release more cds like they did with Amazing Spidey, although that has the disadvantage of the cds having less tactile feel than having the book in your hands, not to mention a watermark on all the pages.

Anyways, I'm not really a huge fan of anything Marvel except Spiderman, so I normally stick with DC.

I was a perennial DC nut for years. However, due to the movies and because I really like Straczynski, I've given them a chance, and I'm glad I did. Their "MAX" and "ICON" imprints for mature readers offer some quality stuff, and I think their art is ahead of DC, to be sure. My current pull list:

Amazing Spidey
Friendly Neighborhood Spidey
MK Spidey
Supreme Power
Astonishing X-Men
New Avengers
Batman
Detective
Gotham Knights (bleh...don't care for the artwork)
Legends of the Dark Knight (bleh)
All-Star Bats
All-Star Supes
JLA
JLA Classified
JSA Classified
Green Arrow
Green Lantern
Ex Machina
Superman
Wolverine
Supergirl
Teen Titans

I'm hoping Marvel's "The Sentry" goes to a regular series. Picked up the first issue and I love it. Interesting concept:

Well, I'm a huge Titans fan, though I refuse to buy any actual issues since they are so far ahead of where I was. The latest Titans I have read was the end of Beast Boys and Girls, the TPB.

That, and Batman. Though I'm not too fond of the Miller/Lee All-Star run with Batman acting like his DKR self as a young man.

Next on my regular issue list, though, is Supergirl #3... if I can find it.

I'm still up in the air about AS Batman. I think Miller is showing signs of losing it. The dialogue is downright awful at times, and he seems quite out of character. I'll give it till the end of the run and see what happens. Is it going to be a regular series with "rotating" teams?

I think Supergirl has some real promise. The art is fantastic, and the stories are solid.

My new favorite is JSA classified. I'm just kind of discovering that team, and I'm in love with Power Girl...

Well, I much prefer Kara's look in Batman/Superman than her look in her own comic series, but Loeb is one of my favorite writers, and both issues have been consistently solid there. Too bad the fight with the Titans in issue 2 wasn't near what it was advertised as. Starfire only fired like one shot!

Hey Chalts, have you heard that now there's going to be a "Special" for each Infinite Crisis lead-in series right in the middle of IC? I guess they're going to flesh things out even more using them.

Also, DC is following Marvel's lead and returning to Annuals, which I think is a good thing.

Have we gone over Topher Grace being reportedly cast as Venom/Eddie Brock for Spider-Man 3? I have a bad feeling about that.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

I've heard reports that that story has been retracted. Grace is in the movie, but reportedly someone else is playing Venom.

Believe it or not I'm probably one of the few people left on the planet who doesn't know the whole Venom deal. I know the basic premise, but I never read the books. Actually, I purchased "The Venom Saga" on dvd this past weekend, but haven't watched it yet. Seems like a cool villian.

Venom is an alien symboiote who attatches to a host and sucks their life force while enhancing their strenght.

In the comics, Spiderman got him as a new suit on the planet where Secret Wars took place; in the show, and probably the movies Venom will come from being attatched to John Jameson's shuttle as he reinters the atmosphere.

Venom is probably one of the scariest, freakiest villains ever featured in comic books, and I really can't see Topher Grace pulling him off, physically and in terms of acting and intensity. I know there are folk who will point to Michael Keaton as Batman, but while Topher Grace is an okay actor, he's no Michael Keaton.

So...was a huge comic nut up to a year ago...went overboard and got burned out, mainly due to X-Men stuff and some residual burnout from Our Worlds At War. The most recent stuff I've read is Id Crisis, Joss's Astonishing X-men, that crap GL Rebirth thing (screw Hal, Kyle and Marz forever), and Supes/Bats.

I need money and something to really get me into comics again. As it stands right now, I have hundreds of issues just floating around that are in no order and most aren't even in boxes, just bags. Perhaps that's what scaring me from comics right now...besides the money.

Help?
Which is the more foolish, the fool (the OT) or the fool who follows (the PT)?

Well, IMO, the first thing you should do is pick up a copy of Infinite Crisis #1. There are some sites out there that will help you with catching up on the tie-in mini-series leading up to it. I think this event will be almost as big as Crisis on Infinite Earths.

As far as the $$ goes: It's tough to argue with that. They're becoming more and more expensive, and with the inflationary period we're in, combined with fuel costs, the publisher's costs are not going to go down, so neither will ours. I'm spending about $70/month give or take (but my pull list is a mile long). If the money's really an issue, consider getting direct mail subscriptions from the publisher. I know Marvel gives a regular discount, combined with a better discount if you subscribe to multiple titles. DC only gives 20% off the cover price, no discount for multiples.

If space and organization is becoming an issue, can't really help you there, exept to say you might want to just collect the Trade Paperbacks that are popular now. They usually collect the previous 5-6 issues of a series from where it currently is. So, if a book is at issue #6 on newsstands, the TPB will collect issues 1-5, is a little cheaper than getting the individual issues, and will take up less shelf-space.

So has anyone seen GI Joe: Sigma 6? If you haven't I advise you to stay away from it. The characters all look like they escaped from Digimon.

Harvey and Bob Weinstein's new multimedia entity the Weinstein Co. is in final talks with Barbara Schneeweiss to develop a TV slate that includes a show based on Robert Rodriguez's Sin City movie, Variety reported. Schneeweiss worked with the Weinsteins for years while serving as a television executive at Miramax.

The Sin City TV series would follow 2006's sequel to Rodriguez's 2005 movie, based on Frank Miller's graphic novel series. Miller co-directed the movie with Rodriguez.

Yeah, I heard about that. Does not sound good.
