Ideas I'm tossing around.

I'd like to do everything I can to foster the growth of the awesome fan edit community we have here. I'm kicking around a few ideas and wanted to get your impressions.

I thought a nice addition to the site would be a gallery containing previews of DVD covers and disc artwork. It could contain thumbnails and larger previews of the artwork with links to download locations (bitorrent, web servers, etc.) for hi-res materials. I considered maintaining the library on-site, but I'm assuming the actual files are quite large and I'm worried about the performance hit on the server.

My other idea was a gallery dedicated to individual fan edits. You'd be able to create a profile that describes your edit, upload screenshots, and include any other info you deem pertinent.

Obviously, I need to get the new forum software done before I can begin new projects, but I'm getting close to finishing the forums and I'd like to get some discussions going on what projects should follow.

What do you think? What site features do you feel would help the community grow?

I think a fan edit library is a great idea. I was thinking about doing something like that on my own web site already. It would be great to be able to see info about all the releases in one place and get links to media and feedback threads for each one. Perhaps allow for a small screenshot or two and a brief description for each one?

I think these are both wonderful ideas. Especially the library of fan edits, information on these kinds of things are far too scattered. It was so hard to find any info at all on Matrix: Dezionized aside from the torrent nfo! I'd really love to see something like that on here.

I would love to see either of these ideas used, I would love to see something that includes large previews of artwork, and I am sure if you are worried about bandwidth cost that tons of users would donate with paypal, at least I would from time to time or when needed like at myspleen.

Something else that wou be GREAT is sfv files so that everyone can make sure they have the right checksums!

By the way, this is a great site you created!!! Cant wait to see what it grows into!

AS JAY ALREADY KNOWS I WILL BE ADDING FAN EDITS TO MY WEEKLY DVD REVIEW COLUMN. THIS MAY AID IN THE EVER GROWING CONFUSION AMONG THE EDITS.
