I probably wouldn’t have Beru being Anakin’s sister. I’d have Anakin, Beru, and Owen all being close friends that grew up together on Tatooine (without parents?). Beru has unrequited feelings for Anakin so she sees him as more than a friend. But because Anakin left Tatooine to become a Jedi, she ends up marrying Owen.
