Tarzan 1999 Fan Edit Idea

I don’t know the feasibility of it like finding the score for the film but I think it would be nice to make a version of Disney’s Tarzan without Phil Collins singing. Recently saw Doug Walker’s video on YouTube on Channel Awesome where he did a comparison of the Stranger Like Me song removed and it feels so much more impactful. Here’s the link to that video https://youtu.be/JkHWNHRJ8S4?t=563

While I would never discourage someone attempting to make a fan edit in the realm that you describe, I completely disagree that it’s more impactful replacing Phil Collins with a musical number (also, the “musical number” used in the example still felt it had background singers on it, even if it actually didn’t).

The soundtrack of this film by Phil Collins is a masterpiece totally underappreciated. I feel the combined performance of the scenes and Phil’s singing/music couldn’t be topped. Even if you subscribe to the notion that you are being guided about how to feel by the song itself, so what? Isn’t that what a movie, book, or audio piece is supposed to do? And if you disagree with that, the fact that it does guide you exactly where it was determined to take you means it achieved it’s goal masterfully and is reason enough to let well enough alone.

That’s kinda funny…
It’s the exact opposite of what I always wanted to see…

When Disney first said they were going to do a musical Tarzan,
I thought it would be terrible because Tarzan singing while swinging seemed really stupid to me.
I loved the Phil Collins songs and their narrative usage.

I always hoped someone could ADD two songs to EXPAND the movie:

1- add this clip from Tarzan 2 between the elephant stampede and Tarzan’s conversation with Kala at the waterside:

2- Add this song (from the musical) when Kala takes Tarzan to the treehouse. Would need to create a montage of the movie this point to help Tarzan make the decision to go with his people. The video you posted actually said he was HAPPY there was NOT a song here, but I really like it.
