hey, i have a similar problem. I have an mpeg video i need to convert to avi but when i use virtualdubmod for this i can never get it to not loose frames. ive done this before and never had a problem with it, but for some reason on this video it will get choppy at points. the mpeg video plays fine, the problem is only in the resulting avi.

I've tried rebooting my computer figuring maybe the computer was just lagging. Ive tried doing a completely uncompressed file as well as a huffy encoded file and the result always has dropped frames (though not always in the same spot) I did get it with one program (forget the name) but when i load that file into virtualdub for filtering and such im having problems with the sound file (it says it cant convert it) i checked the file info on it and it seems to have the sound in the format and bitrate i want so i figured id try and filter and encode the file to xvid to my normal settings but the file ends up being about 60 megs bigger than the target size i entered (i know the file will be fine at the target size since ive done similar shows of the same size using the settings im trying to use)

I will try the program that ReverendBeastly posted when i get home tonight. but i was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what could be causing this and how to get around it. thanks.
